I cant believe no one is talking about this. I mean this is an answer to all the whining that we do here about not getting any coverage and now its going to be on NBC. How bout that. Nascar here we come....ok maybe not that huge

Great news, This is what we've all been whinning about, time for us to put a good show. Personally ill pitch in getting my mexican crew ready to do some serious booby traps, huge bunker holes even some pyrotechincs and shiet, after all, its action the TV producers want. Hell ,maybe we can get some mexican indians to ride on horseback and highjack a TT. Maybe some federales shooting target practice could be a good idea too...

Great news...

I would much rather see Mexicans/Americans running next to TT's to "pat them on the back" than naked French running next to bicycles to pat the riders on the back! http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/blush.gif

It's about time we get to see technology "out in the open" (on network tv) rather than watching a bunch of engineers typing on a computer so their car goes around a circle 1/10th of a mph faster! I think people will get a better idea of whats under the hood with desert racing since the pits are exposed and nothing is so secret that it has to be covered with a blanket or hidden in the garage. The average Joe can actually see whats happening to the car and understand why adjustments are made. With IRL you see a mechanic turn a knob on the front wing and it looks like nothing happened and your supposed to know "hey, the car's pushing, thats why they put 1/4 of a turn in the front wing". In off-road racing I think changes to the car are a lot less subtle and the viewer at home can follow whats going on or why certain things are done to the car so Joe viewer can say "oh, the suspension broke and that's how you fix it!" I also hope we don't get the NASCAR announcers either...I don't want to hear good 'ol boys talking about "ol" leaks and flat "tars". http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm confused by the article...... Is it really going to be on NBC itself?...... Or NBC's cable sports network? (which I didn't even know they have).

I'll really enjoy seeing the Jeep speeds.Which in my thinking this show could be all about. But I'll wait and see.

So which network is it on? if it is on the sports one what is the channel on direct tv? even if it is only on their sports channel and not nbc it is still coverage that will give some publicity to off road racing. We need all that we can get. Speaking of tv coverage, anyone know what happened with protuck and oln?

I found this
http://www.racefan.com/Primedia/pm_storiesresults.asp?StoryID=126668

And at the bottom of the article it says this:
"The “Jeep World of Adventure Sports” on NBC will air Aug. 7, Oct. 16, and on Dec. 4, 11, and 19. The SCORE show is scheduled for one of the three December programs. Times are subject to change, please check local listings.

That is why we have a "press release" news section on this board.

We at Score need to remind all participants of a few things:
1. There shall be no peeing out the floor of the race car at the start line
2. Barfing when you get out of the car at the finish line will not be tolerated.
3. Please remind pit crews no butt-cracks in the pits. Cover up them big 'ol cheeks, you know who you are.
4. Family members and other riff raff are not to show off their bong on camera while wearing your team logo.

My question is? Is the NBC TV show going to be an hour show about the Baja 1000, or is there going to be a small segment of a Jeep show that follows the Baja 1000? Whatever it is any exposure is good exposure, but my hopes are that it is on the Tecate Score Baja 1000 for the whole hour. Anyone know more about the show?

Scott, if you're intent on getting yourself some coverage, I'll take ol" #7 and give you a really nice jeepspeed in return. Oh, I need the semi, too, so I'll trade you a flat trailer and I'll even figure out a way to put jeep wheels on it just for you...lol

I have just returned from Europe and have heard the deal is signed. I hope everyone is really excited about this. My team has been working on this for six months. I'll tell you what I know.

It will air on December 4th on NBC, just like Wide world of sports. NBC wants this to be a long term deal, and wants to make the Baja 1000 and Baja 500 a massive event like we all know it already is. NBC has projected that over 1 million households will see this event on the first airing.

The program is supose to focus on the race itself and the program will be entirely about the race. Jeep is the title sponsor of the show but the show will not be about Jeep. This is a real deal production just like any event you've ever seen on the Wide world of sports.

I am organizing a meeting with all Trophy truck teams to go over what we will have to do to make sure that the audiance of NBC is blown away. I hope we all can get together and do some very simple things to assure that Aura360 is able to capture the event and see it like we all do.

Lastly, This will really help with sponsors and we should all think about how we can work together to help each other. I have meetings all week next week and my proposals include associate deals for every other truck in the field.

More later,
Mark Miller

Reading you post Mark I am very excited about this airing and hopefully it will bring some more popularity and sponsorship to racing. We need all that we can get. Definately keep us updated.

Just a little something to keep in the back of your mind...If this looks like it will get one molecule of attention from Chevrolet or the other big OEMs, NASCAR may do something to detract attention, raise hell with some legal leverage somewhere, or perhaps suddenly support the nature nazis. NASCAR truck racing did not just pop into the scene by coincidence or random thought. They could snuff us again. They are extremely protective over their herd of cash cows.
