The Hobart one's are ok for lite stuff, but go for an entry level lincoln or miller, just better in the long run.

The hf in Az sells a small 120v hobart unit, and some other brand maybe cambell hossfield not sure. But for the extra $100 or so get into a sp-175 lincoln entry level unit. For the Lincoln try your area welding supply. If he is just starting go with a 120v model, as he progresses he will eventully get a larger unit (amprege, duty cycle,220v) and be able to sell the smaller unit down the road. A 120v model comes in handy in the middle of the desert with only a small generator.
