The other day I was at a 76 station in Oceanside filling up my truck. The sign out front said gas was $2.23 for premium and so did the display on the pump. So I swipped my 76 card and began to fill up and looked at the display as I was filling and the price was now at $2.33 a gallon. I stopped filling up and went inside to talk to the cashier she said thats what you are charged if you use your 76 card .10 cents more a gallon.

This has to be a scam since the posted price is different before you start filling. There also is no sign saying you are charged more for using your 76 card. Ive never had this happen before when I used my card. My tanks 25 gallons and that would have been $2.50 more for a fillup. Which is not much for the individual customer but for as many customers this gas station gets that can be a hefty profit. Ill be calling 76 and speaking witht consumer affairs about this tomorrow. This has to be a scam so make sure you double check the pump next time while your filling up!

Hey You Can Take That To The Bbb That Is A Scam That A Lot Of Gas Station Owners Are Doing And Is Rarely The Customer That Notices It. Back In The 90's I Workd For A Gas Station That Did The Same And It Wasnt A 76 It Was A Chevron But It Was Only A 3 Cents Difference. This Guy Was Shut Down For Scaming The Do Put A Small Print On Top Of The Gas Pump Stating Tha Diference On The Price, But The Court Rule In Favor Of The Customers. I Didnt Reliace What Was Being Done Until They Shut Down The Gas Station. So Do Keep And Eye Open For Them Scammers

A lot of places have been charging seperate prices for Cash or Credit, about $.10 per gallon difference for years. But they have always posted it from what I recall.

Contact the HQ of Union 76 and tell them this. I had this at a local Shell station and was refunded the difference on my charge card

Here in Phx there are only a few 76s left. We used one for work for almost 20yrs with my dads company and they shut there doors 2wks ago and told us that friday they were closing down on sunday. The ones that are left are turning into a Union station. Man that sucks that gas is still that expensive, for premium here its about 1.99 and there is not a difference in price between cash or credit, I think.

thats why it usually says "cash price" on the sign.
