I have posted my Cr 250 on RDC and DR and I recieved an email from a guy who said this ( IS this A SCAM)?
"Hello,
I'm olu cane..I am interested in your [2002 Honda CR 250] and I'll like to know your last offering price if it will be okay with me.I'll be making my payment with a cashier's check that is drawn from a u.s Bank.If you do I want you to get in touch with me immediately for me to proceed with the Payment. As for the shipping I'll contact a shipper agent of mine who will arranged for the Pick up as soon as the transaction is sealed and i will like you to get back to me.while i will like you to send the pics to me through my email ads.I'll be looking forward to your response. Thanks and Have a Nice
day.Regards,
Rev cane."
Then I replied to him and he returned saying
"Hello ,
Thanks for the mail, And I am very much interested in buying the 2002 Honda CR 250 at that price $3,600,I want you to remove the ad from the website and i want you to tunr the other buyer that the 2002 Honda CR 250 has been sold.and give me your contact details so we can proceed with payment. Regarding payment, I have suggested that my client residing in the state should send you a certified check/money order of $7,300 which will carter for the cost price and for shipping. Its going to be a check so should be cashed immedaitely you present it at any check cashing stablishment.I have an International shipping agent that will pick-up and ship the 2002 Honda CR 250 over to me here in U.K and its expensive though. So on getting the check, you are to cash it and deduct the cost price then do me a favour of sending the remaining funds meant for shipping to my International shipper via Western union.Immediately he gets the money, he will come for the pick-up. Confirm this and send yo ur FULL NAME:PHYSICAL CONTACT ADDRESS: and PHONE NUMBER:CITY AND STATE which will be used in mailing the check payment to you via courier service. I'll be waiting for your favourable reply.
Regards,
Rev cane.

for all rdc classifieds scams, please PM or email us with as much detail such as time-stamp etc.
Forward emails you receive.

I will create access lists that can exclude traffic from certain networks/countries. I believe a lot of the scams originate in specific countries and we could simply block them.

Thats a old scam, they send you a bad certified check and by the time it bounces they hope you have sent them a good Western Union MO, if you want to play him have him send the fake certified check ( that costs him for mailing ) then the fun on your end ;) he will send you a Western Union place he wants the money sent to, then you lookup a Western Union about 100 miles from where he told you to send it, and you email him that you sent it there ( of couse you never sent a real Western Union)...the theif will make a 200 mile round trip and be out the money to send a bad certified check.

Damn im evil :D ..... play the want to be player

As Chuck said, it's a variation of a very old scam. The USPS has seen quite a few of these throughout the years. It was also seen several times on eBay as well. Like the adage says, "If it's too good to be true..."

Then again, it is fun to turn the tables a little bit! ;)

It seems as though they are sending floods of emails to all the people on certain sites and I actually talked to a friend who got this scam played on him for golf clubs, I told him he was stupid for doing it but what can you say but tell friends about it so they don't get anything pulled on them.

Ya this one is everywhere. I have posted ads on ebay, recycler, offroad, glamis online, and race-dezert. I always have something for sale and have probably seen this scam ,(no joke) 50 times in the past year, with some variation. You just gotta be smart. If doesn't sound right, tell them to beat it. Also don't know if you guys saw on the news last week but a couple people had their cars stolen after posting in the auto trader.Theifs came over and they got jacked. Be real careful when you have something for sale. Keep the transaction simple.
