I am hoping to start riding dirtbikes soon, I have rode quads for as long as I can remember, but the problem is I dont know which bike suits me well. A couple of months ago I rode a cr250 and I never felt comfortable with it, It felt very awkward since it was tall and it was a 2-stroke and I was used to riding my friend's xr 100 4 stroke. I cant decide if I should get a 2-stroke or 4-stroke and I am not sure what engine size I should get. I have searched everywhere but I cant seem to find the right bike for me. Can anyone help me?

Gotta ask yourself what your going to do with it. Desert, track, etc. Then consider your height and weight if it's a 2 stroke. If you want a desert bike, go to the XR's, either the 400 or the 650. 650 is a big bike, but it's like riding a cadillac on two wheels.

well, I mostly do desert riding and do some small dunes in a local riding area, I am 6' tall and 150 pounds but I dont want a very big bike. I was mostly looking for a light bike not too big or not too small but that I can still go fast over rough terrain on it.
Thanks a lot.

CRF250

If thats your weight and your a beginner, I highly recommend it. My little brother started on the same bike, he's 14 and is about 5'10'' and around 140 lbs. and its perfect for him. I ride a CRF450 and I am 6'3'' and arund 185lbs. and it's perfect and throws me around at times lol

Look at a WR250F, or the CRF 250X. Both are the smaller 4 stroke, but with all the offroad stuff on them. Slap on a desert tank, and you're done!

XR400 with a few mods and you would be set...for a lot less then a crf250x...

XR400
Low maintenance, great for beginners and experienced smaller riders, lighter and more nimble that the 600 or 650. should be able to find a used one for a decent price. WAAAAY les maintenance than a CRF or YZF. Those are HIGH maintenance 4 strokes, the XR's will run forever.
