View Full Version : Sand Ladders/Motorcycle Ramps?

I'd like to incorporate a mount for a motorcycle ramp into the bedcage (http://http://www.trailslesstraveled.com/viewarticle.php?id=51) for our Tacoma, since we designed it with dirt bikes in mind. But I was thinking that it might be cool to adapt a lightweight sand ladder (like the Dakar vehicles use) to work as a ramp, so it could serve more than one purpose. Where should I look for something like this?

AC Designs makes some really nice quad ramps, that are almost 12" wide. They weight maybe 5 lbs a piece.

That's weird how it redirected to Microsoft like that. Here is the fixed link: http://www.trailslesstraveled.com/viewarticle.php?id=51

If I'm not mistaken, the "ladders" that the dakar teams use are made out of a composite. like plastic, etc.. I remember watching Jean Louis burried in the dunes and seeing it flex around the tire and then regaining it's original shape. They also attach them to the car with a tether so they can keep driving to a safe location and them place them in the car.
