I'm shooting for about 50 / 50 weight distribution on my new buggy. What would be most desireable?
It will be four wheel drive, with a front mounted motor. I can push the drivetrain back as far as I want to get what ever weight bias will work best.
Thanks,
Ryan

Ryan,
There doesn't seem to be as much technical discussion here as at other places.. :D I, too, enjoyed yoru Truggie build(s). :D
I was most recently at 60/40 nose to back, 2400lbs up front, 1600lbs rear with a front mounted engine and 4x4.
It works well, but the front suspension definitely sees more abuse than the rear.
My friend runs an EB with the engine back ~16" IIRC and is at 52/48. It flies better. Whether that's the 4-corner coils vs. 4 leafs, driver, or something else I don't know.
I'd keep your 50/50 split as a goal.
A number of Trophy Trucks are running the engine either mid-mount, or mid-mount-backwards with a V-drive to help keep the weight to the rear of the vehicle and off the front. Then again, it might also be there as much to provide room for the center mounted A-arms as anything else.
Welcome to the Go-fast addiction.. my trail rig projects have suffered greatly since I started doing 4x4 racing. It's just too much fun. :P
