UPDATE-UPDATE-UPDATE- ON THE CAL-CITY GP #2
Dear Racers:
We've received a lot of calls regarding signing up on Saturday morning. It's OK, but if the number of people who called is any indication, and you are willing to pay the extra "post" fee, there may be long waits. I would consider coming in on Friday and camping out with us at the start/finish.
Don't forget, we are NOT having Friday night sign-up/registration/check-in at Cal City's Pizza Factory, as originally planned. They have a car show going on the same evening in their parking lot and it would be too crowded.
So ON FRIDAY we will open Registration/Check-in from 5 p.m. until 8:30 at the start/finish location, 140th and George Blvd. It's about three miles East of town. Follow the paved highway out of Cal City towards Silver Saddle. Turn right at 140th and go in a mile. There we are.
Park on George Blvd, on its North side (parallel to the racecourse). Do not park your rig/truck/motorhome, etc. on the dirt median. That's our buffer zone. Of course the racecourse is on the South side of the boulevard. Stay away from there.
Important. We need to mark the racecourse tomorrow because environmental "biologists" will have to walk it and check it out. However, there's no pre-running allowed. Please help on this.
Everyone will get a "parade" lap on Saturday morning before the Gran Prix starts, so helps us control the course and not cause any problems. We really appreciate it.
Everyone must attend the 8:30 a.m. rider's meeting at the start/finish, even if your GP may not start until 10:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. There are very important matters we must cover concerning the desert tortoise and ground squirrel, so please do not be late.
It's going to be great fun, and you're going to love the 14.8-mile course. AND REMEMBER, THE RACE IS ON SATURDAY, SO THAT YOU CAN STILL MAKE IT TO YOUR DAD'S FOR FATHER'S DAY OR MAKE IT TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY!

The weather, they say, will be around 87 degrees, and a bit windy. They actually said that there's a 20% possibility of rain, but they must be talking about Tehachapi or Lancaster. It never rains in California..City. Pass it on to your friends and come on down!
See you then!
