Bought new cv's and they are really tight (compared to the old). I've had several "mechanics" tell me to just put them on saying "they loosen up quick enough on their own..." But I think they should be polished a bit to loosen them up.... What's best for fresh cv's?

Thanks,
G.

If you feel like polishing them then do so(Always beneficial). If not install them on your car, lift the car up on jack stands SECURELY!!! Start the motor and let it run in first gear for about 10-15 minutes. This should "Race Clearance" them for you.

Good luck

Whoa...before doing that...you'll need to check and make sure that the clearence is not so tight that you'll bust the cages.

Raise it up and free spin the wheel...make sure there are no binds.

I would break them in driving, jacking it up will run them at an angle that isn't used much, you might consider over heating and thinning the grease while there tight, a trip around the block then parking the car might not hurt for the 1st few miles ( if its street legal )

Of course you could always polish them then send them in for cryo treatmemt

have been using the 930's from ORW..they have the chromoly cage, polished(pretty sure) and lightened...look like they have cooling fins. they were good to go from the start and have run them for 2years. tear down after every race and are doing real good.
