Regarding hole saw drilling, here's a technique I've found useful: When cutting in plate, drill a small hole on the perimeter of your cut (on the inside obviously), so that as the hole saw cuts, the shavings fall out of the small hole. It dramatically increases saw life, and speeds up the cut. Not a problem when notching tube of course.

Fab, thanks for the link. I like to run mine a bit slower than the chart, like 120 instead of 200. Colin, thanks for the tip. That's a good one. I always hated how the saws build up chips in the teeth and groove and slowdown the cutting. I suppose an occasional air hose blast would clear the chips as well.
