I have a Yaesu FT2800 Radio I want to mount in a play car. The car is a beetle.

I have the original bracketry that the radio came with though I am concerned about its strength once the car starts moving around and such as they often do in the desert.

I havent seen anyone other than PCI who makes brackets for radios and they don't make one that fits the Yaesu radio like I have. My Question is, how are you guys mounting your radios? Are any of you using the stock brackets the radio comes with? Do most of you own radios that PCI makes brackets for eliminating this type of issue for yourself? Has anyone made their own?

Any help would be appreciated.

It's actually pretty easy to make your own with heavier guage sheet metal. Bend it or have it bent on a machine to a U shape, drill holes for the mounting thumb screws and I think under the seat on a beetle has a bit of room on the passenger side.

Cameron,

In our 11 car we used the stock bracket that came with our kenwood. We used nuts and bolts and bolted the bracket under the dash. 2 races so far and no issues. Make sure you use loc tite on the little screws that hold the radio to the bracket.
