I don't know if anyone has seen these wheels but they are cool and pretty reasonable. I hear that McKenzie's is already out of them. I found a place here in Vegas called Discount Foreign Car Parts. They have stacks of these wheels in non beadlock and beadlocked too. Here's there number if anyone is looking for these wheels 702-247-1266.

We got a new set of BTR's from Valley Performance for Primm and ran them on the back of the car for a bit. The are fairly similar to the Gordon rims. They say they are lighter and stronger yet they have less material than the gordon's. Maybe better designed? not sure... Also the Gordons have a step where the mounting face meets the hub to allow it to be sucked down more which seemed like a plus. Not sure if the lower price means less machine time but we were trying to quickly mount these up in the parking lot and had to de-bur every hold on the rim where the ring gets bolted into becasue it was not done. Major pain because they have double the number of holes as part of their design. But for the price you can't beat them. I would buy a few more

Yes a certain off road supply shop by my house sells them as their own shoes but FST makes them, what gives?

Just like a lot of things, the company is willing to make amends to sell more product. So some people would refer to it as selling out see threads about Jesse James in a TT. Its plain simple capitalism (sp?), usually keeps prices down too.

Jeff, he is referring to the FST wheels that Kartek is selling as their own label now.

If you were to put the Robby wheel next to the BTR wheel you will see a big difference. The BTR wheel weights less and is stronger do to its design. Material was added in certain places that make the wheel strong and more material was taken off in less important areas. The wheel was DOT test against the Robby wheel to back this up. There are 48 bolts holes not 24, thus taking 2.5 lbs. of the wheel, also allowing you to turn the ring one c-hair if you break or strip a bolt/hole. Some of the holes had debris in them one the earlier batch but has been corrected. The step in the rear of the Robby wheel the hits the hub doesn’t do anything. They say it’s a rim saver type deal so if the lugs come lose the wheel doesn’t come off. But it would seem that a flat surface one the hub would be safer; do to the whole wheel being flush on the hub and not half. It may seem that I am trying to promote this wheel but I’m not, just pointing out a few facts. We half 5 sets of the BTRs and 2 sets of the Robby for our car. I also have a set of Robby’s on my truck.

FST has their own truck wheel that Kartek is selling. Jesse Jones makes a wheel the ones that Wilson Motorsports runs that he makes for *********. Jesse Jones also makes that same wheel that has a kidney shaped hole and not a round hole for Kartek which is seen on most Porter cars.

The drawings are done and the tooling will be next for the 17" truck wheel. They are think of doing a 15" beadlock truck wheel for the 1450s and others. what do you guys think?

I think a 15" truck wheel priced right would be a great seller. It will be nice to have another option in 17" I have waited many many many months to buy spare Robby wheels.

Cross branding is very common in every industry. Its smart business.

5 on 5 1/2 x 15" is what I would use.

So much talk and all I get is more confused, lol! Ok I looked in a back issue of Dirtsports and they had in the back a new wheel from FST. So I guess Kartek sells them now. I saw them at the expo and clearly had FST engraved in them and their were no round holes in the rim I believe. And they say these are forged. I do not get why any body would make a cast wheel even if the load rating is pretty high. I have seen the center section of a Robby wheel COMPLETLY torn out from the old Baja Shop truggy at one of the MDR races. The wheel was toast. I would imagine that it might have not happened if it were a forged rim but I do not know the circumstances that caused that incident. Plus a forged wheel is lighter and alot stronger. So is FST letting Kartek sell them as a retailer?

Oh and a new 15" rim would be awesome I was so excited when the Walker 15" came out, currently it is my faviorte rim. I just want the prices to come down.

I saw that wheel(FST) on the Banks TT of Wayne Lugo, its beefy as can be. I dont think you could break one. I am looking forward to checking out the new BTR wheel, especially the truck wheels.

The BTR wheels are very strong, we used them at Primm. Multiple flat tires from hitting rocks and all the rims were still good! They are deffeantly lighter than a RG wheel as we have both, and the price is great!
The Walker wheel looks nice but on the buggy wheels that I saw they are not hub centric I think is the term, the lug holes don't all line up with anything so some are next to open spots in the wheel and some are next to solid spots on the wheel? Looked wierd.

They can be ordered hub-centric, I have 6 Walker wheels that are infact. When ordering, they ask you whether you want hub-centric or conical(sp?) wheels.

Just a question for all you 1450 guys . . . what lug pattern and offset do you guys run on your trucks? Also, any of you guys run a 17" wheel with a 35".

Thanks

Isn't a forged wheel actually heavier than a similar cast wheel because if the material density? That's part of what makes it stronger, right?

I remember the company that actually manufactures those FST/whatever wheels (Metal-Forming Technologies?) had them on display at SEMA. I was stoked to finally see a forged wheel with an integrated OMF-designed bead-lock, but I wish it was 8" wide. Does anyone know what they weigh?

We're running 17x8" Alcoa wheels (6 on 5.5" w/4.5" of backspacing). We had them bead-locked by OMF and one wheels weighs just over 30lbs (23lb wheels & 7lb beadlock). We're running 35x12.5x17" BFG mud-terrain tires and I LOVE the way they handle on larger wheels, but the additional weight kinda sucks. I noticed that a lot of the CORR trucks are running 17's and 35" tires. Jim at JMR told me it's so they can fit larger brakes in there.

Most of are running 15x7" or 15x8 "wheels, the back spacing varies, most of us run what we can get our hands on..
