I was offerered one a few seasons ago cause my buddy worked for kroyer racing engines and there team didnt qualify or something like that so they were headed back to vegas early but besides that i hav never heard of anyone i know getitng one andi have some crazy nascar fans at work

We had Garage & Pit passes for last week. It gave us full access except during hot zone periods (about an hour before and during the races) it was the only way to go especially the morning of the 500. My wife has a friend whose wife is involved with one of the primary sponsors of the series. Left to my own devices I would have never got them, they are not for sale and you have to present I.D. constantly while back there.
I guess it just come down to a connection I'd offer mine but I've used it up for this year. Good Luck.

Right now, (Pre-Tony Stewart fan beating) It is next to impossiable to get a "Garage pass" you can buy pit passes for about 50 bucks (had some last year at Cal). You are limited to pit road basically until before the start of the race. Then you are booted out.
These days inorder to get Garage passes there is really only a few ways and all the ways pretty much require you to have a very good reason.
1. Teams have a very limited amout of family and friends "Extra Garage Passes" You would have to get these directly from a team.
2. If you are an official parts supplier to the teams. You (your company) would have to pay $1200.00 for NASCAR membership and you get an official suppler card (with photo) and that will get you in the garage but not in the stands.
3. Be related to a NASCAR official and get a one time guest pass.
4. "Official Press"
5. Get a job at California speedway. (LOL)
THANKS TONY STEWART!

Daytona has really stepped up their Fan Garage passes, they have a cool viewing area for the fans with windows on the back side of the garage walls with like a walk up window for getting autographs. Kind of like a check cashing window.
They don't have a set up like this at any other track yet. They should, it seems the fans really like it.

California Speedway is going to be making some big changes after this weekends race. In May the California Dragstrip will be open. I think it will be in the infield area. Also they are doubling the midway area. They are suppose to be starting the week after the race and it will be done before the Labor Day race. Here is the link to the speedway news letter about the renovations. http://www.californiaspeedway.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=483 Also I guess they are changing the logo for the track. Which is kind of strange because they just change it when Penske sold it to ISC a few years ago.

It's out front from what I can tell. The area between the (current) drag strip ( in the front parking lot) and what is the current handycapped parking lot.

Robby will be driving the black and yellow colors this weekend with Menards as the primary sponsor. This weekend should be a good battle between the home improvment stores 7, 20 & 48. Also has anyone else heard what the Beer wagons want to do. Miller Beer was trying to bet Budwieser! Miller wants to bet Bud the the #2 with Bush will finish higher in points then the # 8 with Jr. If Bush finishes higher in points then the 8 team must paint there car in Miller colors for one points paying race in 2007, and if Jr finishes higher then the 2 team must paint there car in Bud colors for one points paying race in 2007. I have not heard if Budwieser has taken the bet or not. This was on Jayski before the Daytona 500.

Bud Pussed out.
Could you imagine what a Dale Jr. Miller 1/24 car would fetch? Or a Kurt Busch Bud car would get from the Jr. fans.

Well; I'm heading to Fontana tonight. We have 3 spots in the infield. Trucks on Friday, Busch on Saturday and Cup on Sunday. If any RCD'ers are going to be there stop by and say hi! Our camps are on the back stretch by the track access gate. You cant miss it with the large #7 sign that,s lit up at night and the Menards and Jim Beam banners around the camp.

Ok check this cr*p out! I just got a phone call from one our guys who took one of our motorhomes up there this morning. In the past we have had some problems with the t.v brodcast getting pissed that we have a 6ft #7 / #31 at the time lit up on top of the motorhome during the race. They have asked us to take it down during the race so not to disrupt the t.v coverage. They said it was to tall. You can stand on your motorhome and watch but a 6ft sign was to tall? What ever! So we would move it or take it down. Alot of people have made platforms that are on top of the motorhomes, which is taller the 6ft.
They give you a packet when you enter. Now here are is a new rule: You must take down all your flags and flag polls during the races, as they are saying the flags in the infield are abstructing the view and the networks t.v coverage. They said if you dont comply they will take away your spot for good. You will then have to re-apply for a spot. From what our guy found out ISC is going to be making this rule for all their tracks that they have Cup races at this year. We pay a boat load of money for our spots and I am still going to have fun, but the ISC can Kiss My A**.
Also look for a big blue #7 at the SpeedVisions Trackside show. One of our guys is going to take the #7 and wave it in the backround during the show. He said if we cant have our other sign up during the race and on tv then he will do this. To me this seems like alot of work and I dont want to spill my beer!

I bet if you lay it flat on the roof all the chopper shots will show it and from the top of the stands can see it. Just ask Chad Kanass it's ok because it's not a flag pole or extending above the RV. Then it will not be "Too Tall".

Nikal, the sanction has tried to police the confederate flags "ruining the spirit of the sport" without success. If they make everyone take their flags down, it doesn't appear to infringe on "Free Speech" for those that wave the southern cross.
Still not fair, for real............. but does provide another perspective.

My cousin has hook ups w/ one of the other teams so they have hot passes for the race, yeah Im pretty jealous. Anyways I hope to see some of you there.

Please explain the 2 down 3 to go part...I was a bit worried that I'd have to be sitting here ever weekend all year waiting to see if he will qualify...
And he got porked today too running at the beginning when the track was hot while the tail end guys were running a second or more faster due to the cooler temps...

Qualifing works like this.
The first five races of a season locks the top 35 in owners points from last year, leaving 8 spots to fight for out of 43 spots. After the first five races of a new season the top 35 in owners points at the time of qualifing are locked in the show.
Hence, RG has made the show this week and last week, being 2 of the 5 first races of the season. If RG makes the show for 3 more races he will 99.9% be in the top 35 points. After that no matter what his time is he will be locked in regardless of qualifing speed.
There is a few other tiny factors but basically that is 95% of the requirements.

Watching NASCAR Race Day on Speed, decent insight, Robby's interview was to the point and he said and believes he will be in the top 35 after the first 5. K Wallace brought up a good point that the #7 since using DEI engines has an average finish of 11th. Great discussion on single car teams that the first 5 races this year is the race to chase the top 35 spots. I just saw the giant #7 in the crowd. Kind of feeling melancholy after being in Daytona last week to watching on the tube this week miss the excitement of being there but not the crowds.
13 days counting until I can ride again. Spectator is fun but participant rocks.

Did anyone else notice in the middle of the race during the TV broadcast the TV announcers were talking about Casey Mear's and the Mear's racing history. It mentioned and showed Rick driving an Indy car and then talked about Roger and showed a few seconds of Roger in his old Budweiser Chevy Trophy Truck hauling through the rough and they mentioned Roger as an "off-road, and desert racing legend." I thought that was pretty cool.

Maybe he was useing more gas because he was on the highline all day and probly abe to stay in the gas deeper into and sooner out of the turns. He was the only one I could see in turn 2 and three all day from my seat on the 15th row of section 50. Nice to be able to look up at any time and know where he was even if it was too far away to see the colors.
