Did a search and some on here swear by the brush on Hammerite paint - my question is on the Hammerite spray paint. Can it be applied over mild surface rust similar to the brush on Hammerite? Anyone have experience with the spray? Pros/Cons? Im thinking about the flat black...
Thanks

I've used the spray and have paint over some very rusty metal with little to no prep and it's held up for 6months so far.

I used the spray and was unimpressed. The stuff chips way to easy. As far as rust goes - It slowed down or stopped the rust as long as you got a couple of good coats on it. But I think the thicker that I applied the paint the easier that it chipped.

I love the stuff. Works great over rust and any other surface. Looks far better then any other rattle can i have used.

It works great over rust (just like the can says) but will chip easier then others (due to its rust encapsulating) and DO follow the directinos to get at least the 3 mil thickness it calls for if you are going over rust. It is all on the can. Rustoleum (sp) is great too. I have used both and rust is gone! Just keep a can around for touch ups.
