#1429 First OVERALL! With 68 starters we beat the first place class 1 by 15 seconds to win the overall using our bone stock 3.4 v6 with 120,000+ miles out of a junkyard truck. VIVA Toyota! Also I believe this is the first time a 1400 truck has taken the overall?
Heres my story of lap 3 and 4. Dan can post his story of lap 1 and 2.
At the start of lap 3 Dan came into the pit in 3rd place about 5 seconds behind the Camburg truck who was running in 2nd place and about 2 min behind first place. We did the driver change and I got in to drive and Corey Schafer got in as Navigator. We took off from the pit and passed by Camburg in their pit right as they were about to pull out. Went warp speed of about 67MPH to the rockpile and gave the guys there a good show. The lap was going good and the whole time I could see Jason in the Camburg truck back there thanks to it now being dark and seeing his lights. Kept the truck floored for the whole lap never being more than 30seconds in front of Camburg. Ran into a LOT of lap traffic this lap and most of the people moved over right away. Except for #1022 car. After sitting behind them for a while I nerfed them and they started to run. So I caught back up and nerfed them again. Then they tryed to run AGAIN! Now I am pissed because ive been obviously faster and behind them for about 2-3miles. So this time I just floor it and dont let up. We hit and climb all the way up on their car and nerf the wing behind their cab (DP3 TT Laughlin style). We backed off because we saw a 90 corner coming up on the gps and they go into it way to hot and almost roll it and THEN they decide to pull over. What a joke that was.
Started the 4th lap now in first and was 1min ahead on track and 2min on corrected time on Camburg. Half way through the 4th lap the GPS froze and wasent working. Went on to just stay ahead of Camburg keeping their lights in the mirror about a mile or so back. Had no idea we were even close for the overall so the last 5miles I backed it way off. Came into the finish 30seconds on track and 1min 30seconds corrected ahead of Camburg. Tryed to do some Robby style doughnuts but who can compete with those...Later found out we had the overall by 15 seconds over the Thing Motorsports class1/tt THING.
This was one of the funnest races we have done yet. Having lights of the 2nd place truck in my mirror at all times was a rush for sure. Some of the best racing I have done and the truck was driven at 100% for about 99% of this race. Congrats to the Camburg guys on the 3rd overall and 2nd in class with their stock motor also. That was good racing!! Big Thanks to Dan for letting me drive half the races this season. Also thanks to everyone that helps with the truck at the shop and at the races in the pits. Also thanks to all of our sponsers like Total Chaos who also helps with bitchin pit support! We will see all of you in Sept at PRIMM!

Well fish i think you and dan did a great job at driven, and corey and greg did an awsome job as co-drivers. Also all of us did great when we had pit stops we al knew what are jobs were to do, so great team work DNF TEAM and dan i had tons of fun, glad to see us win.

Congrats to Dan and Fish and your whole team and co-drivers. I kind of feel like the pitcher who gave up Mark Mc' Guire's record breaking home run. You won the overall fair and square.
The hot wire to our alternator broke on the third lap, so I had to nurse the truck into our pits without lights for the final mile or two. The required repair took about 15 minutes. At the end of the race, we went bact to our pits thinking we had our first class one win and our first overall win. It wasn't until later Sat night that we went back to the start/finish and found out that we lost the overall by 15 seconds. We spent the rest of the evening mumbling "fifteen seconds" over and over to ourselves. Why does it feel so crappy after getting our first win and our second, second overall?
Again, congratulations to you guys. You did a good job.

What a race !!!
DNF race recap ......
Since we missed a few races this season , we are way off in the points chase, so that gave me the opportunity to run the truck harder than I usually would . It proved to be very successful !!!
I started the race with Greg Gagnon as my co driver . We started a few spots from the rear of our class in the MDR/Camburg 200 night race in Lucerne on 8/12/06 . I was expecting to get passed by the trucks starting behind me within the first few miles to the "Rock Pile" as it is a pretty straight shot and both trucks had almost three times the hp we have . Surprisingly the 3 miles seemed to not be enough for them to overtake me with the 30 second intervals in start times . As I turned the corner , I could see them in my mirror about 500 feet behind me . A few quick turns and rhythm section later , they were nowhere to be seen . From there it was pedal to the metal for the next 40 miles . We had passed all the trucks that had started infront of us with the exception of 2 , which I was within a hundred yards of . At that time, in high gear, I found an uprooted rock with my left front tire that destroyed the tire and rim instantly . The tire change had some complications , but was sorted out and we were back on our way after being passed by the entire class . We crossed the line about 6 minutes off of where we were running prior to the flat . Second lap went flawless . We stopped in the pits to replace the spare tire on the truck, and were back in the race . We reeled back in the trucks that had gotten around us with the tire change , and set fast lap for the class in the process . At the end of the second lap , we were third on the course , but first on corrected time for our class . I handed the truck over to Austin "Fish" Farner for the second half of the race with Corey Schafer as his co driver . They held a smooth steady pace cruising staying out infront of the Camburg truck that was running second place in the class . We ended up 1st in class and 1st Overall also recieving the fast lap trophy .
I can't say enough for My team and sponsors that keep the truck running and staying out front at the races . Without them we wouldn't be able to enjoy the sport we love so very much .
Thanks to Total Chaos for all their help and support both off and on the track . ESB Mike for helping me build my dream in the truck we race . Baja Racing products for their support all the way from the beggining . Fox Shox for the AWESOME Shocks . K&N for always keeping my motor dirt free on the inside . PDC Motorsports for setting up the rear end of the truck race after race . Lighforce for helping us to see in the dark . Goodyear for AMAZING tires . McKenzies for their support , and Greg Gagnon for the awesome dialing of the shocks on the truck to keep us in the lead !!
Thanks also to the entire DNF team . They are the ones that make the wins possible for weeks before each race .. Fish , Nate , Chris , Cora , ESB Mike , Corey and everyone else that shows up to the shop to lend a hand . You guys earned the win for us long before we got to Lucerne .
See everyone at Primm !!!

well since dan and i are TC team mates i guess ill just post this here.
1486 race report:
well we drew first off the line in class and i was stoked to be in front of most of the dust however by about mile 2 heading uphill towards the rockpile we got passed by the second and third starting trucks. the first was john alagna, a rookie with a 3.4L tacoma and chad dohrman who has a toyota with over 400 hp from what i have been told(chevy V-6). after passing through zoo road, i mean the rockpile we picked up speed since its downhill....lol.....anyways, it got rough a bit and we reeled in alagna and passed him then we had to work past a baja bug that would not pull over....and a few 1300 cars.....and then by mile 12 or so we come across dohrman who went upside down and was done. we kept the pedal on the floor and layed down 3 consistant 60 minute laps. nobody in the 1450 class was able to pass us untill the last lap about 15 miles from the finish. it was reynolds. he skated by for the victory and we barely edged out giordano to get second place. considering the current overall points battle this second place finish was very good for us but not great. not sure what the final two races will bring but im sure it will continue to be intense!
the truck worked flawlessly for all 150 miles. i pushed her about as hard as she would go. the motor ran strong and the new gear ratio in my CURRIE 9" helped out a ton. the TOTAL CHAOS GEN 3 front suspension once again worked awesome, as did the custom erik-tuned 62" DEAVERS in the rear. the shock satan valving cannot be forgotten as well. lol
for this night race we hooked up a new sponsor for lights. VISION X provided us with some great HID's. these lights lit everything up in our path and let me really drive the truck hard with confidence in the dark.
so to all the people and sponsors that help out. thank you very much.
TOTAL CHAOS- great suspension kit/steering as well as pit support!
DEAVER SPRING- leafs that ride like a link!!
OC OFFROAD- financial support and shop use for prep!
VISION X- killer lights!
MCKENZIES- great deals on parts and they SUPPORT MDR!
SANDCHIX CLOTHING- financial support!
and of course, my dad(BOB), and my wife(CHRIS), my co-dog(TIM) and all my friends that come out and help with pitting and chasing duties.
see you all in september. VIVA THE WALL!!
