I have some 315 75 16 toyo mt on my silverado and my mpg went out the door and almost into the negaives. These tires weigh 76 lbs each per the toyo web site. Now i am traditionaly a bfg man. Now i am thinking about going with simple good ol all terrains. Now does anyone know how much a 315 75 16 all terrain weighs?? I figure less weight will improve mpg. Any help would be apprectiated. Oh and the bfg web site has spec but no weight.

Maybe..... are you sure your milage went down. Maybe you just went to bigger tires and your odometer is now inaccurate. so it only looks like your not going as far per gallon. ..... just an idea.

i thought about that too, but my mpg before was also based with a 315 tire. I am going to use my gps to calculate the mpg to see how off hy odometer is. Then i will decide based in that if i should change tires. I have a 50 gal tank and i want at least get 300 miles out of it, if not more.

Weight of the tire is insignificant compared to the effective final gear ratio change due to the bigger tires. Don't worry about the weight of the tires, rethink the size or regear it.

I have 4:56 with the 315 tire. At 65/70 mph i am at 2500 rpm in od, now i think most cars are at 2000 rpm about the same speed. So there might be room for a faster ratio.
