i have a ranger that is linked. the pivit point for the lowers are at the carrier bearing crossmember. i just want opinions on which is going to be a better option. right now i have about 5/8" of plunge with a 2pc. and i do not know if it is going to be way worse with a one pc.

How long is it overall? Length is one of the biggest factors for determining if you need a 1 or 2 piece. I can't remember the max length for a 1 piece though. Maybe someone else knows. or you can try calling a driveline shop.

Diameter plays a part in the 1 vs. 2 piece decision, but as I recall about 58" is max for a one piece.

Substitute a tape measure for the drive shaft and see which results in less plunge.

58 or 60" is the number i have been given about driveshaft length max.

Key to the ranger 2 piece driveline is a fixed output from the trans. This will keep the carrier bearing alive for a while. With a slip yoke the driveshaft(s) ping pong back and fourth and just plunge out the carrier bearing. Even with minimal plunge (<1/4") it will just do this.
