Allright hopefully somone will be able to help me out with this because its starting to get really annoying. I have a 2000 Ford Ranger 2.5l. The problem is that sometimes when im driving the engine will increase its RPMs by itself to 3,000. Like if im coming down a hill and take it out of gear to coast it will just hold the RPMs. If I put it back in gear it will actually push my truck like i was giving it gas (makes it really hard to downshift to slow down). If i coast to a stop in neutral with the engines RPMs at 3,000 it will stop revving when i come to a complete stop. The weired thing is it only does it sometimes. Maybe 50% of the time i drive. Ive checked the throttle cable to see if it was getting stuck but it was clear. The trucks got 90,000 miles on it and still has the original clutch. I dont know. Any help would be very nice.
