Hey guys im finaly back.
Its been to long.

Another line of questions for the guys in the know. I searched for about three hours last night and couldnt find the answer. Does anyone know of a turbo or supercharger for the jeep cherokee xj. I found one for the tj i think thats the wrangler but im pretty sure its not compatible as they didnt list the xj on there site.

Any help would be apreciated.

As long as you are willing to do some custom work any kit made for your engine will work, if going with a turbo, the only part you really need to be meant for a jeep is the exhaust manifold, if you are building a full vehicle then bending the tubing for routing your boost should be no problem. If using a supercharger then you just need the mounting brackets for your specific motor.

But what about reprograming the ECU you dont think it will be an issue?

If you are trying to get uber super car power with crazy boost, which wouldn't be good for the dexert application, yes you would want to go all out with the ecu and everything. But on a dezert vehicle you would only want a mild amount of boost, their are plenty of products on the market to compensate for that, I would recommend the Vortech Fuel Management Unit to increase fuel pressure proportionate to boost (all the bolt on kit companies use the vortech piece, or copied it) , then you just need an ignition setup that allows some retardation as boost increases, this setup should work pretty well, and you would deffinately need an intercooler or water/alcohol injection if you wanted any real power in the dezert heat.

I don't know too much about boosting trucks, but I know quit a bit about boosting cars. From what I have learned, the rising rate fuel pressure, as mention by Cracka Racing, is not really such a good idea. I don't know too much about the injection system on heeps, but if it multiport fuel injection, a good choice for a stand-alone fuel management system is the MegaSquirt. It handles all your injectors at all RPM ranges, and if you get the right version, you'll have spark control as well. Just make absolutely sure you have a wideband o2 sensor and gauge to keep track of your A/F ratio, so you don't get too lean and damage stuff. A good A/F to shoot for with mild boost 7-15 psi is around 12.5-12.7. At least in my experiences. Of course, on factory engine internals, I don't think i'd go much more than 5 or 6 psi.

Of course, as I said, I have no previous experience with Jeeps, that is just my experience with 4bangers.

Wow i wasent looking for that kinda boost. I saw this for the tj.

It gives about 50 extras ponies but even that has a reprogramer come with it. I would like a straight bolt on unit that gave about the same improvment. But cant find one anywhere.

look up 505 performance (505performance.com). They have a XJ system that should work nicely. They did a good job for me on my 504 BBC and would be worth a look. And they may be the only ones with a kit for your application.
