Parker Pumper is good, great guys. They might also recomend you to sparco racing suits. They will make a suit custom to your measurements I believe they are in orange county or have a hub there that you can get measured up. It costs a little more but comfort is everything it the suits during a long race.

What is different about washing the suit in OC ? I wash mine in River water and it doesn't shrink....Just follow the instructions, cold water only or Dry Clean...

I started this post in jest, but maybe.......not ????

Thanks for the Laugh. I am Tall and Lanky. I have purchased off the shelf an XL and XXL. I found out that the lenghts are the same. So if there is very little shrinkage, I have no room for my "Junk" and I start getting that "Hi Water" affect. So i am ready to put down some cash for a suit that i'm comfortable in.

do you guys wash the suits at home or dry clean, I heard that dryclean makes them lose their fire retardant but if you wash at home it will eventually ruin it and shrink it...?

I wash mine in cold water and WOOLITE. then hang it to dry. If it's really dirty, like I had to actually fix something, then I use SHOUT, before I wash it.... I did the same with my old suit and it is still good, ( I had the manuf inspect and SFI tag it), and STILL FITS after 20 some years !!

Same thing - cold water, woolite, hang dry. The guys at Simpson told me the drycleaner has to use a chemical called "Perk" it is not their everyday stuff.

Try Deist Safety http://www.deist.com they do custom stuff

I wear a two piece suit when fueling http://www.profoxracing.com more then generous cuts and they go to XXXL.

Compressed air is perfect for those last minute - forgot to wash your suit - need to leave for the race trashes!

You may not need a custom suit, we have a suit sizer that's extremely accurate that will give you sizing for an off the shelf Sparco or Alpinestars suit. Many of the racing supply companies can cross over the size number to other brands.

We have a real trick product designed for cleaning Nomex suits and protectant to help repel oil, gas and grime. We should have product and information at our booth during contingency at the 1000, and on www.upr.com in a week or so.

Use Borax at home, do not dry clean.

The only suits that will lose their fire retardant properties are Proban and other fabrics that have been treated, sort of like Scotch Guard.
If a suit is Nomex, it will not be effected by washing or dry cleaning. Machine washing will wash the color die out of Nomex, that’s why suits turn dingy yellow after time because Nomex is naturally yellowish. If you’re good at using a washing machine, it works pretty well with the right soap.

I’ve heard the myth that dry cleaning chemicals will make a suit more flammable, it BS. If that were the case, there are a bunch of bankers walking around in danger of bursting into flames.

Katsu, keep washing those Sparco suits we sold you in Borax so we can sell you more next year.
