View Full Version : 5-1600 Feedback Wanted

BajaCoalition
November 2nd, 2006, 11:02
The Baja Coalition is working on the 2007 schedule and is very much in need of feedback from the 5-1600 racers.
For those of you that are participating in this years series we thank you and hope that you are having a great season with us. For those you of thinking about running with the Baja Coalition and are not sure if it will benifit you as a racer ask any of the teams that raced the 2006 season, and make up your own mind if you want to race 2007 with the 5-1600 Baja Coalition.
This 2006 year we have a fine list of sponsors, including BFG who is giving the winner of each race a set of tires, and Champion $1000.00, --Howe who is giving a power steering ram to class champion and many many many more. With the help of these sponsors we have been able to grow to put together a great contingency package. John Huson has raced the past 4 Baja Coalition races, and with 1 more race left this season-with CODE Race Ready- Mexicali to San Felipe Dec 1-3. Huson has brought home Thousands of Dollars in Cash and Prizes so far, these winnings do not include the sanctions contingencys.
When the Baja Coalition participates with a sanction it is like a "Bonus Race". When racing with us you get additional payback, pit support, and radio communications---And for those of you that are wondering. We are non-profit, all money goes back into the racers pockets. I am just a person with a huge passion for racing those bugs, Yes- You can say I am a addict to racing.
Win Deen the director of the BC and myself are trying to get the low budget family car the recognition it deserves. "Forging A Family of 5-1600 Racers for the Future"
5-1600 Racers---So I ask You-

WHAT RACES DO YOU WANT TO RACE?
We want to do 2 races from SNORE and 2 races from MORE. Which ones do we do? The following is a list from both circuits of their 2007 schedule. Your opinion is valuable in making a succesful year for all 5-1600 racers. Get the polls started!

The SNORE Caliente race is a great one, lots of fun and terrain you wont find anywhere else. Our team had a blast there, Taking our very first class one victory. If tight bridge crossings and twisty back roads are something your interested in, it is just the race for you.

I would say 2 Baja races and two U.S races, Or maybe 2 Baja races and 3 U.S races or vice versa. That way you would get more Mexican entries, therefore 20+ cars.

You know I agree with wanting to do baja races- The big problem that I am having is organizing races down in Mexico, I can't speak spanish and have one hell of a time trying to understand it, and my contact list is less than impressive for the race teams that race in BAJA. Another problem that I am having is the lack of intrest from fellow racers to do BAJA races, or at least those that I talk to... If you have suggestions and / or would like to help me with contacting people I will give it a go. Any excuse that I can find to go to Mexico I'm on it.
ANSRacing-What kind of info would you like- sums it up @ http://members.cox.net/vw516/bc.htm / or check out our website. Info
I guess the real answer about the Coaliton running Mexico will be answered come Dec. when we do the CODE Race Ready Mexicali- to - San Felipe race. DEC 1-3
ANSRacing & Archie will you be there? How many cars do you think we can get entered?

i did not plan on racing the race ready 275 just finished superstition last week and have some work to do to the car, but now considering to race. i will definately sign with baja coalition but would rather have a couple of races south of the border. will help out definately in any way i can for translation purposes or whatever you need.

Perfect- I could really use help with translation- If Races South of the border are requested I need to start finding out what races to do. We are trying to incorporate SNORE, MORE, MDR, CODE, series into our schedule, but with no feedback I am stuck to only races I know. And that with no feedback is limiting. Also have no contact list to help excite drivers to sign up- The more cars- more excitement- more payback- That's how look at it. But now Im stuck with What Races Do We All Want To Do????

code i think is a great organization i would say an average of 8 5-16 per race and most of them are really competetive, lots of sportsman 5-16 also. i think the terrain is alot different out here and can be a nice change of pace for the bc.you can definately get a good feel for how much interest there would be by posting on offroad.com.mx alot of racers post there, i will be happy to do it for if you would like either way i will be in touch soon to register for next race.

At least 2 spostsman 5-1600 and 1 new car will be racing 5-1600 in CODE races next year on top of the 10 average racers. Mexican cars can be taken to the US races, but it cant comeback into Mexico without papers. So we have trouble racing US races. Ill help you out at the CODE race if you come, i introduced Klaus to everyone down here when he came. Talk with Poncho the CODE race organizer he speaks fluid english and is really friendly. 4 CODE races can be deemed worthy of the Coalition Racers. April's Mcmillan 500 (mxli-sf-mxli), June's Night Race, august Jacume's Grand PRix and december's exli to SF. The more you come the more they wil join. I will join all baja coalition races....

I agree with Omar, talk to Pancho also, that'll get you in with the Mexicali guys.
As Adolfo stated post on offroad.com.mx alot of racers from TJ, Ensenada, Rosarito, and Mexicali post there. That can get you started with the guys in Ensenada. Also talk to Carlos Orozco of Baja Pits and U.S. Wheels, the Baja Pits meeting before the Baja 1000 always has alot of racers there. Hope this helps you out.

Hey Kristen:

I think you'll be really happy including a couple of CODE races. In particular the races at Laguna Salada are fun because it's a good course and really chase friendly. Jacume is also a really good set-up, kind of like Laughlin Lite. Also, neither is too far south which might help the members from way north. I'm sure we'll talk later this week if you want to pick my brain more.
