Rebuilding an pre-85 350 with a turbo 400 for a play truggy. Looking to get 400-450 HP. Any ideas on the rebuild??

Finding that kind of power is the easy part. The hard part is finding a shop that you will trust. I say "will trust", as apposed to "can trust" because that are alot of good trust worthy engine and tranny builders out there. The trick is to trust one and let them do there job. I would guess that a real would price on that engine would be around $5k. They run about $10+ per hp for a local shop to build. If you buy a mail order crate engine, There a little cheaper because there production line built to a common spec.
As for the trans, trust somone and have a roller bearings installed and manual valve body and it should work great. I would expect to pay about $1,500 with a cheap converter.
All this psychology is true of fab shops too.
