so i got a question for all you techs or ppl that have experiance with this.. im wondering what are the advantages and disadvantages of cutting and droping your exhaust? would it be better to leave it as is or cut it?

keep in mind i have a 03 chevy 1500 4x4 5.3L 6in lift with an aftermarket 3in exhaust, hypertech programer, and airaid intake.

THANKS AGIAN!

I'm sorry but I don't quite understand ur question? Do you mean, that if you modify ur current exhaust setup by putting a turn down after the muffler; that you want to know if their is an advantage/ disadvantage to it?

You'd get a better more useuable advantage if you ****canned that 3inch and put a 2.5 on. 3" might look good on a dyno report but 2.5" will feel better seat of the pants.

my guess would be that it would be loud and lose torque...

From Experience @ exhaust building, I wouldn't cut your existing aftermarket 3" exhaust. As you will experience a little bit fuel economy loss, really bad droning/ resonation in the cab, & a HP/ TQ loss. The Chevy 5.3L and 6.0L don't like short length & large Diameter exhaust's setup on mainly stock internal motors. Hope this helps.

C'mon your telling me it not good to get you teeth rattled out? I have a El Camino I drive around on the street often the resonance from my 40 series exhaust turned down before the rear axle just about makes me go deaf. Another thing is if you run such short exhaust you'll get to lose some brain cells from all the exhaust coming in the cab.
