I am in the process of up-dating an old 5/16 car.
I am now to the point of installing my new Mailman motor.
Where is the best place to put my air filter bottle ???....should I run the plumbing through the firewall and into the area above the tranny, behind the seats/fuel cell , inside the car ?.....or should I install it outside, closer to the engine for better air flow, but dirtier air ?????

any tips would be helpfull.

Thank you for the help.....John Sullivan/Mid-Life Crisis Racing

Put the Air Filter bottle inside the car, We have ours below the rear window. Run the plumbing through the firewall on either side into the area above the tranny. I'll post some pics after Laughlin, since the car is in the shop right now waiting to get it on at Laughlin.

Hold on there a minute turbo. If I'm correct running the intake piping through the fire wall is illegal. If I'm wrong there is very little room to install everything. Take a look at the piping on the back of my car. Its 316ss thin wall tube and the filter can is inside, high behind the codrivers head. Cool air is flowing much better there than on top of the luggage tray (that thing on the inside of the fire wall that most people us to put picnic baskets on back in the day) where because of the shape of the roof alot of dust accumulates. If you decide to run it through the firewall make sure that you dont cut the louvers and that the gap around the piping is less than .250 in.

Actually, it's not below the rear window. It's like that in our other car. Hope this helps you out.

These two are from John Huson's bug, in which Rulo Solano just won Laughlin in.
