View Full Version : Big or small?

I see that some Class 12s run 32's or 33"s, others run tires much smaller. Obviously bigger tires weigh more. They also look cooler (and that may be the most important issue). But with limited HP are they an advantage or disadvantage?

I ran 33X10.50 in all 4 corners....It looked cool, worked very well but it beat up the frontend REAL bad. If I ever race Class 12 again, I'd run 33X10.50 in the rear and the skinny tires in the front. The skinny tires are actually still 33" tall - just not as wide or heavy.

Do most people run 33's in the rear? If not, is the HP sufficient to pull them?

You'll find just about everybody runs 33's or a Metric equivilant in Class 12 and 1600.

I am running the MT 33" baja pro on all 4 corners ... i like how the car drives ,
The crowned tire is very good when you have limited HP and saves the tranny too.
I am poor racer soooo it easier for me to buy the same tires for the car and give the same tires to the pit guys instead of having specfic front and rear tires.
I like the beam clearence too ya ya extra 1" to 2" but everything counts by lap 3 and 4 when the crown get bigger and bigger.
My front linkpin bushing get replaced after every other race or so, thats the only major draw back... my king pins and bearings look fine after every race.
oh yah it looks cool too...
the Mickey Thompson Baja Pros are pretty light too, I dont know anything about the Yoko's but the pattern seems like it would good too.
