This was posted on the main page of racingwest.com in the Hot Woods rumor section by "anonymous."
"Paul Menard is going to drive for Robby Gordon Racing next year and Menard is going to bring full backing with him... (Anonymous)"
At least Gordon keeps his name in the media. And remember, these are just rumors and this particular poster wouldn't even post a name so take it at face value-zilch-but you never know.

That is an old but legit rumor. PM's contract at DEI ends at the end of this year. He was asked late last year of what he thought about Robby Gordon trying to grow his program with the purchase of RYR and switching to Ford and whether he would drive for RG. He responded that RG was a great driver and owner and he would drive for RGM if the opportunity presented itself. It is well known that Robby has mentored PM , alot like he is doing with David Gilliand now. John and Paul Menard have been with RG for the IRL, CART, SCORE , Cup and Busch racing. That would not suprise me at all. Now the question is, If RG can get Menard and Monster to commit full time next year, That would leave Jim Beam, Mapei and Motorola/Verizon to maybe sponsor a third car. The new shop will be done by then and be able to house all fo the COT's. In hind site, this would have been a bad year for Robby to go to multiple cars this season. Next year, lets face it, all of the chatter tells that the COT will be full time next year. They can focus on one style of car and go for it. With FOMOCO as a manufacturer and Rg getting top notch support from them, This could really be a possibility.

Maybe Casey mears can drive the third car for RGM after Hendrick fires him for crashing up all of his cars:D ..........(Joke)......Sorry:D The kidding aside, this is the best of both worlds for RG. He gets to keep a very loyal ally Menards as a sponsor, And have Paul Menard, who is very underrated IMO as a driver. If John and Paul decide that this is where Paul is going next year, this would be a huge thumbs up for RG and RGM as far as what they are doing. It is one thing to sponsor someone and be a friend, it is quite another to trust you sons future and his dreams with somebody. This would be really cool. I hope it works out!

This would be great- It's the ideal situation that eliminates the question of which comes first, the sponsors or the driver?... and the Menard/Gordon connection does go back a long way... on the other hand, it's very easy to post rumors when your login is "Anonymous"! hahaha

He's top 50 with 5.5 billion.
5 million to this guy is like if you had 5,500 dollars in the bank and gave your buddy 5 bucks.

I know the math is good and no question about JM's wealth but will PM really be coming on board with RGM next year.

A guy with 5 billion bucks an Indy 500 winner and avid race car team owner without a cup team? It's only a matter of time.

RG should partner with JM for a 2nd cup team, a full time busch team split by RG/PM, and the Indy 500.
If PM gets the #15 in the top 35 I doubt DEI would sell the points to RG/JM.

I say Jr. should defect w/ PM. Any takers on that idea?
