Im only intrested in hearing form sparco owners please. I do not want this turning into a suspension seat vs non-suspension seat discussion. I have searched and read many posts about sparco seats on this forum and now want to here from drivers/riders only. The car Im planning on installing the seat in is 1-1600. The main reason for going with a sparco is the weight. Before any of you start telling me that I cant do that or its going to be a rough ride I want to here form drivers/riders only.
So tell me...
what vehicle you Drive/Ride in?
How many races/miles expierence you have with sparco seats?
Overall feeling of the seat after a race?
Thanks Adam

Not as comfortable but way safer. I have 400 miles in Pete's truck in them and although it is tighter on the hips and not cushie you know you have a better seat under you.
Clyde bought two sets for the new trucks, when they are done..............

I may be a little bit smaller 5'10" 175, but i think they are extremely confortable and definately the safest seat also...

6'3 and 21 stone dont know what that is in kg.
I have driven Nissan Patrol practicly stock. Over 1000 kilometers longest time in the seat was 600k
Toyota Pickup long travel total chaos suspention. 300k
Jeep Speed'er buildup. No official raceing yet just sum preruning and testing.
And after all that all i can say is what you already know.
Light, tight, safe and rough. But i wouldnt go with anything else.
On the dakar i had the opertunity to try alot of different seats (as i was swapping from truck to truck). The only other one i liked was OMO as they were practicaly the same and a little cheaper and slightly bigger round the butt.
For a more comfortable sparco ride i suggest a lower lumbar support sparco do one for about 70 bucks i think. And lots of padding.
Hope this answers any questions.

done about 500 miles in the evo2 (the wider evo) and for the first 10 minutes it feels like it pinches your hips, but then it becomes suprisingly comfortable and you totally forget about it, kinda feel more "solid" and one with the seat... and unlike suspension seats were you eventually have to keep adjusting your belts, it seems like you dont have to as much, or at all...
i am 6'2" and 250lbs...
trophy truck prerunner is the vehicle.
although it is a tt, felt good after.. and the little bump at the end of the seat where your legs are is really soft, you dont have to... um, support them? as much..

I understand your need for weight savings in your class, but a seat is really a safety device just like belts and a helmet. I race trophy trucks and have been using SPARCO seats for the last 4 years. I wouldn't even consider running anything else especially a framed suspension seat. I've personally known 2 people who have broken their backs in those type of seats. Just make sure that you get a tub seat that fits your body. They are supposed to fit snug but it's just as important that you don't move around in them. Once you use one in a race you won't want to go back. They feel like a race seat and not a sofa. You will feel more connected to your car and also be a lot safer.

Adam,
How about an update with your thoughts after you get it installed and tested?
I've been considering the same thing.

Well I finished installing the EVO 3. The only problem I encounterd was the mounting holes are not paralell from left side to the right. Shaped more like a V. Not a big deal if the seat location is permanet but mine is adjustable so it took a little while. My car is tore down to the bone so I wont be testing for another week at least. The seat itself is very comfortable. I think that most people who dont like the feel of sparco seats have not sat in the proper size seat. After building the seat slider I compared the weight of the mastercraft pro seat( + 1 inch) to the sparco EVO 3. The sparco is 10lbs lighter.

Please keep us updated on the comfort of the seat when you are able to use it for a while. Thanks.

I went testing today in plaster city with the new seat. It felt great. The seat holds you in place better as you are driving. Once my belts were tight they never came loose. This will be the only seat I ever put in my vehicles from now on.

We stock the Sparcos and yes they are worth every penny. I think the Evos are around $650-700. I'm at home now so I would have to check the real price tomorrow at work.

You need to sit in them if possible, but if not you can take the word of someone that sells a bunch of them. My experiance would say that you're likely an EVO XL.
Some people like them to fit super snug, some don't...you could probably use an Evo L as well for a tight fit.
For taller preople, the Pro 2000 is a great choice because the bottom is about 2 inches longer than the EVO series.

It was definetly the seat!!! lol The sparco worked great. At the king 250 I was hitting a big drop off before the last check point. Anybody that raced there knows its at least 15ft drop into whoops.

Definitely try one out before you buy one, I went to Sparco headquarters last year and tried all the seats. I race short coarse in a light buggy. I am 5'8 and I have a really bad left shoulder and had problems with other seats not cupping my shoulders. For me the Corsa gave me the best shoulder support and most comfortable for me. Also I don't slide around like i did with my beard seat I had, my hips stay nice and snug.

Kinda an older thread coming back to life, but I co-drive in many different trucks ... I own two Sparco Pro 2000's for my own project. Price was no factor in what seat I purchased. After riding in a truck with Sparco's and hitting the wall in Lucerne ... I was sold on them. You get what you pay for. Next to that i would have purchased Beard Ultra Pro 2's or Pro 4's .... Also a great seat.

has anyone ever used the kidney or side inserts on the sparco seats? I have evo 3's and I should probably have gotten evo 2's. I want the seat to fit a little tighter and give some more cushion. I am also thinking about the lumbar support and the UPR bottum cushion, if anyone has any feedback on those.
So has anyone ever used these before and what do you think about them?
thanks

The kidney pads won't keep you from moving around if the seat is to wide at your hips.
The kidney pad you picture is the stock Pro 2000 pad, we stock 'em if you want to try them. Like everything we sell, if you don't like it, return it.
The other pad you show looks like a thigh pad, that also can be used as a lumbar pad, but I wouldn't recommend it because they are too big. Check out the air lumbar pad, they work pretty well http://www.sparcoracing.com/product.php?productid=114&cat=22&page=1

Proper fitting Sparcos are the way to go, much safer than the low back tractor seats that seem to be everywhere in offroad racing.
There is so much test data out there on how rigid (non-suspension) seats with a high back that runs above the helmet line are the key to help eliminate spinal injury in an accident.

We've seen those pcp type suspension seat,
is this a better deal then those?
I agree that the "tractor type" fiberglass seat is best for a sand buggy/toy.
