Some interesting names in interesting positions....

Robby Gordon ..........16th overall, right where he wants to be.

Casey Mears............32nd overall, 21 points above 35th and no Robby to blame this time. Boy, the 42 is looking better and better all of the time

Paul Menard.............37th overall, How do you think John Menard feels about that, when Robby is in 16th

Kasey Kahne............36th, Come on Ray, you told us you knew all......

Dale Jarret ..............33rd, early retirement maybe????

Juan Montoya...........14th, what a turn around by Chip Ganassi overall

Michael Waltrip.........Dead last what ever that is. Not only that, but the sponsors are beginning to become restless with finishing at the back if they even make the race at all.

Mark Martin............1st, sound like he has made peace with being the brides maid points wise for his career. That is OK, he will always be a champion IMO!

How far is the estimate for Mark Martin to fall next week when he sits out Bristol??

Worst case scenario will be that he falls by 187 points.

I only watch the left turn stuff to see how well Robby is doing with the never ending deck stacked against him. Watching Montoya drive today here is a prediction: Juan's first pole and win will be on a road course, this year.

Mark Martin = Champion. Name another series driver who whould sit out a race leading the points.

I gotta say I was impressed with JPM...top 5 on the fastest track on the circuit...he'll definately win a cup race this year.

Gotta agree there. I really liked him in open-wheel, but haven't gotten into him in his new ride.

How do you figure? I bet he would rather be in Mark Mantin's place.

You think???? I think RG would only like to have to pay 2 million a year for a team as well, that does not mean it is going to happen. I think that RG and RGM for that matter are realists. Underfunded single car team preparing not one new model with the switch with Ford, but two with the COT, actually more if you want to include Drafting Cars, Intermediate Cars, Road Race cars etc. Their goal was to be well within the top 35 after the first 5 races are done. They are at the 5th race now and they have reached that goal with flying colors. THey are less than 40 points out of the top 10. THey are consistantly racing within the top 20 this season. That is absolutley incredible for a single car team. As I said before, they are right where they want to be......They are within striking distance of the top 12.

No kidding 1st place is where he would rather be. However he was just hoping to be within distance of the top 12 at race 24. If can get the exposure around race 22 or 23 of fighting for the 12th spot it would be a great season. Bristol and Martinsville are going to set the tone for the May- July stretch where RG kicks in the nitro and usually is a top ten point getter for about 8 weeks solid. If RG can just get to May in 15thish position he could build some major momentum clear into August and hopefully be Chase worthy.
