Thanks. We are shooting for the VORRA shortcourse opener on 4/1. Might make it, might not. We're running the entire VORRA series this year and a few races down south for fun. Next year will be BITD or SCORE.

All,
Super nice day........... Temperature around 88 degrees. 30-40 miles east of SLO.
Nice sandy washed out riverbed with washboard sections. Lots of different lines.
Ran the truck hard for 2 hours. Truck handled great.
No issues other than a fuel delivery issue that revealed itself toward the end of the day.
Next stop............... Barstow for more testing..........
Super big thanks to Ken, Victoria, Susan, Dahlia & Pat.

 badass! i notice you didnt cnotch the rear.. how much rear travel are you getting with the stock frame, and what was your reasoning for not notching it? ..... just wonderin cuz im leaning towards that same layout. looks sweet though keep it up!!!

Resolved our issue that resulted from the 1st test session. Without diagnosing the issue while we were there, we just assumed we had a fuel delivery issue.
Turns out that the wire loom for the crank sensor was rubbing on a pulley and cut through, lol. Fixed the wire and we are back in business.
Off to the dyno guy to get the ECU reprogrammed and some dyno time.
Then down to Barstow for test session #2.
Justin - The truck is SCORE tagged and 7 legal so no frame notch. I'm pretty sure the rear achieved somewhere around 30-32 inches of travel when cycled, however that is currently strapped at 26. We have around 10-12 inches of up travel at a low ride height, but that can easily be increased by running a higher ride height in the rear of the truck.

hows visibility over that front clip?
DesertLab
November 25th, 2009, 08:02
Visability is ok for me, but would suck for a shorter driver. A drop center hood "would" make a bit of a difference even for me. Already looking into it.
Not happy with the stock F150 spindle setup. Moving on to Camburg's fabricated spindle setup asap. Will be nice to have the bearing & brake upgrade as well.

Race proven now with Heidi Steel earning a class 6 win at the Baja 1000 and 2009 class 6 SCORE championship!

Guess who's back........
After testing @ Poso, Barstow and racing a Vorra short course event, we realized the stock F150 uprights, spindles & brakes weren't going to cut it for us.
We ended up breaking an upright, once while testing, and again at the Vorra short course race.
So the DL7 went down to the shop in SLO.
Here's the list of completed upgrades:
Fabricated uprights, Weld-in snouts, Wilwoods, Camburg hubs, timkins, ect.....
Modified beam ends to accommodate new fabricated uprights.
Sorted out low RPM issue with a new chip from JaunCo. 6k RPMs now and running much stronger overall.
Re-geared to a lower ratio.
Diff skid plate from Blitz.
Full under belly aluminium skid plate.
Complete Howe steering system including ram assist.
Green Sticker.
Paint.
Headed down to SLO next weekend to sticker the truck.
Then to Barstow for some more testing.
Special thanks to the DL7 SLO Crew and all of our sponsors.

Yup I reckon thats a nice trucks, mmm-hhmm.
1.Karl: Reckon you make me some biscuits.
2.Karl: I like them French fried potaters.
3.Doyle: Hey is this the kind of retard that drools and rubs CHIT in his hair and all that, 'cause I'm gonna have a hard time eatin' 'round that kind of thing now. Just like I am with antique furniture and midgets. You know that, I can't so much as drink a damn glass of water around a midget or a piece of antique furniture.
Linda: Doyle, you're awful. You shouldn't be that way.
Doyle: I ain't saying it's right, I'm just telling the damn truth. He'll make me sick. I know it.

Changes @ The DesertLab Compound:
DL7 dun got some horses:
586 @ the crank to be exact..........
Look out Class 6 / 7200......
In addition to the drive train upgrades, Shawn Fink of Casper Wyoming will be campaigning the DL7 for the 2011 season.
Shawn has a excellent racing background and the resources to execute a competitive race program.
I couldn't be happier who the DL7 went to!
I'm really excited about co-driving and developing the race program for Shawn.
