Ok, I was loking around the web for fab ideas and I saw a F100 with a limiter strap as a drive line hoop.

I planned to make the ones on my truck out of 1"X.120" DOM.

Is the limiter strap legal for Score Tech?

What are the pro's and con's of that limiter strap?

I know it would wear out but I don't think you are going far if you have to use the drive line Hoop.

I do think it would be easier when working on the truck for install and removal.

What are your thought's???????????????????????????????????????

We installed a limit strap on our 7s per BITD rules. BITD allows for a 2" wide nylon strap within 6" of the front yoke or UJ. I drooped out the rear suspension and installed a strap which allowed approximately a 1" gap from the driveshaft so it didn't wear.

By removing one bolt and letting the strap hang vetically, you can work on the driveline without having anything in your way. I think SCORE would have a similar rule, but I don't have their rulebook handy.

With 4X4 Race trucks do we have to put one on the front?

How and why?

We have done the same thing. This method is completely SCORE legal, and offers easy access for regular maintence.

I don't think a shorter front drive shaft will pogo a truck like a rear shaft that lets loose at the back of the trans for transfer case.

Plus how would you put a limit strap on the front differential to keep the shaft from hitting the ground?

That is my point, but some rules are there and are just dump. So I had to ask.

SCORE CR28 requires a "retainer hoop" within 6" of the front U-joint and it can be 2" nylon webbing (limit strap) just as in the BITD rules. Makes sense because BITD originally copied SCORE's rule book.

Does that apply just to the rear or any and all drive shafts?

Sorry. Should have included "Four wheel drive vehicles are not required to restrain the front driveshaft..."
