maybe not whoop on them but i highly doubt he will be a field filler. its gonna be awesome to see rob mac, rg, welchel, and the rest on the same track. who do you think the NBC folks are gonna interview first on sunday? I garentee its RG. if the baldwin equipment stays in one piece for the weekend id be willing to bet we see RG in the top 3 and id almost be willing to bet he wins. I do not think a person like robby will have a hard time at all jumping into the truck and being one of the favorites and the fastest in pro 2. when his stuff stays together in the dezert he is the BEST and FASTEST.

If you want to se RG in a Pro- 2...you need to be there saturday, and he isn't racing against the Pro-4's.

Saturday the Pro-2's will race their normal points race, and then race again later that day for the cup race...Pro-2's Only. The Pro-4's race their normal points race.

Sunday the pro-2's race their round 2 points race. The Pro-4's will race round 2, and then later that day they will race their cup race...Pro-4's only.....

I thought that the 2 races on Saturday for Pro-2 were for the points and the Sunday race was exclusively a non-points race and only the Sunday race will be televised one NBC.

PatrickW
April 13th, 2007, 10:23
There is one Cup race each day. One Pro 2 and one Pro 4. One on Saturday and one on Sunday.
These will not be points races. They will be for cash.

A Pro 2 Races three times each weekend.

1. Points Sat.
2. Points Sunday
3. Cup Race (Sat. Unless otherwise specified)

Pro 4 Races three times each weekend

1. Points Sat.
2. Points Sunday
3. Cup Race (Sunday unless otherwise specified)

Race (3) for both classes is going to be covered by NBC. Two 20 minute races plus interviews and features = One 1 hour show
Races (1) and (2) for both classes are the points series as covered by SPEED.

April 13th, 2007, 10:47
The cup races each weekend are qulifiers for the final Baldwin Memorial Cup at the end of the season. You have to have done well in the qualifiers or in a Last Chance to be able to race for the $66k at the end of the season...

It should be interesting to see how much time we have between our points race and the cup race to get the truck fixed if need be....

CORR officials have said this morning that they are changing the Pro-2 & Pro-4 Cup race schedule for this race weekend. In the bigger picture, having RG come to CORR race might not be such a bad deal for the CORR world and since he has to race on Saturday night at PRI, but is available on Sunday to race CORR, they are accomodating RG.

The line up in CORR Pro-2 is going to be epic with this lineup.

Ricky Johnson
Rob MacCachren
Jerry Whelchel w/Tommy Morris on the box
Robby Gordon
Todd LeDuc
Carl Renezeder
Greg Adler w/Jon Nelson on the box
KMC Wheels Team --- figure that one out-LOL
Steve Sourapas
Jesse Jones
Travis Coyne
Mark Porter
Gary Dircks
and a few more to follow...

I predict the Pro-2 race is gonna be WFO...

April 13th, 2007, 17:16
Every Day is the best day to go.

If you can only pick one.... I would have to say the first day. Reason being, more action beacause there are more vehicles on the track before they are taken out for whatever resaon.

On the other hand whosever equipment is still in competition on the second day they will all be charging hard for a win. Reason being, there is no reason to save the equipment and drive less then 110%, they have nothing to loose to get to the checkered flag 1st.

I just got off the phone with RJ.

"As long as I've been involved with racing trucks I've wanted to have the chance to race against Robby. It's going to be great to go head to head in identical and identically prepared trucks."

This is going to be a lot of fun!

Steve_Naughton
April 14th, 2007, 01:19
This is neat and all, but Johnny Greaves is still the king. Greaves to short course off-road racing is like Tiger Woods to golf, or Jimmy Johnson to stock car racing. I hope Greaves races CORR this year, but if not, then he'll be the only reason I will be flying back to the Midwest (well, that and cheese curds, ..and Hord too)

Besides that, it will be a lot of fun seeing RG mix it up with RJ, Todd LeDuc and Renezeder. However, I think RJ takes them all.

Regarding PRO-Lite, I think Kyle is going to make it very difficult for Rob and Rodrigo to win, but it's going to be a very exiciting battle none-the-less.

Who's your pick?

Why Huseman in pro-4? Don't get me wrong, I know he's fast, but what about Douglas or Cenni?

I agree that LeDuc is going to be one tough competitor in pro-lite.

And pro-2, if RG shows or not, should be an amazing show.

If Greaves is a no show (which I would put $5 on that he will be there)

I will pick Carl or Scott.

Pro Lite
Rob or Kyle

Pro 2
WOW!
It will all come down to who stays together and who gets the hole shot!

I will pick Jerry, Carl, or Todd.

Greaves Motorsports is racing CORR season and an official announcement from Mitch will be coming forth early this week about his sponsors for each series and the finalized schedule. Just expect the black & green Pro-4 to face off with the warriors of the dirt next weekend and like Johnny told Dirtnewz, "Can't wait until Robby moves into Pro-4." The battle of the Monsters....(that's a hint)

Anything can happen in any race when you have Scott Douglas - remember he's the Borg-Warner Champion in a Greaves-built Douglas Motorsports finished Pro-4. Then you have Cenni, Huseman, Renezeder and Josh Baldwin along with the king of the old school closed courses-Marty Coyne.

The caravan to the warmth begins Sunday early am from Suamico, Wisconsin. :)

I think it's more along the lines of what a "draw" Robby is. Having the name recognition of Robby Gordon racing in CORR will bring lots of attention to the series. So they can make a bit of a rule twist to get him there.

I think RG just wants to see what Pro 2 is like.

Pro 2 would be a great top class for a MTEG type series.

Dude you can't be serious, can you? Robby is one heck of a driver, but to think he can just jump into a Pro-2 and walk away from everybody is insane. I don't care who you are, there is a learning curve. Even the best desert racers are going to get an education, no matter how well their trucks are set up. To say or think that ANYONE can just jump into a Pro-2 and drive away from guys like Renezeder, LeDuc, Whelchel, RJ is just plan disrespectful. On the WAY outside chance it does happen, I'll eat my words. Until then, show some respect, would you? Obviously I am partial. And there are a lot of talented drivers in CORR. But Robby does have a knack for jumping into vehicles he has never raced and kicking some serious ***, he is not just another desert racer as you put it. He is known as one of the most versatile racers, if not the most on the entire planet, that is a fact. And while it has been a while, it is not like he has no short course experience at all. He was doing Mickey Thompsons giving Ivan Stewart and Rod Millen a run for their money, as a teen, on a regular basis early in his career. I am not saying he will, but like it or not, if anyone was able to pull something like this off, it would be Robby Gordon.

Robby is a great driver. However, there will be other great drivers in the race. I am assuming that Robby puts his race suit on one leg at a time, just like the rest of the guys. Maybe I am wrong and he gets his racing suit on in a telephone booth. Who knows?

While it with will be great to see him race, I am thankful for the full-time off-road racers that make it possible to have the series in place.

Dude you can't be serious, can you? Robby is one heck of a driver, but to think he can just jump into a Pro-2 and walk away from everybody is insane.

Six pages of RG lovefest,

I'm dead serious... RG+800HP+Dirt= Win or break there is no in-between.

"Six pages of RG lovefest" ->Read the thread title big dawg. :)

Maybe I am wrong and he gets his racing suit on in a telephone booth. Who knows?

Your right he doesn't put a suit on... He takes his street closes off. Flash Gordon!

Well if thats the case, I hope he has been working on making a six pack and not a spare tire around his mid-section!

Spare tire might no be a bad idea for Dakar reserves.

Has Robby ever raced a CORR truck? Let alone a Pro-2? Not saying that its going to slow him down at all, but just curious. Fly, go easy on me. I am not a Robby Gordon blogger! :)

This is a picture of RG at the Score Las Vegas Cup. Not too many people can drift a TT on the asphalt. Not slide but drift on the asphalt!

1991 Crandon was last time, so no... I think it's going to be one of those Rory "Thing of Beauty" deals... He is going to leave a path of carnage in the first round... Win the second round... Then in the Cup race... More Carnage

Johnathon you mentioned Welchel I believe he did just that last year when he jumped into an old truck even.

Yeah Jerry also tested for months before the season. Let's not foget that the truck Jerry bought won what, 6 championships. I don't want people to misunderstand me. I know Robby is an excellent shoe, I just felt that the other racers are being disrespected. Time will tell...

So Bill- are we going to see you at any WSORR races. I'm out of the old dinosaur and in a new truck we built in-house. I can't wait. (have to finish first it though)

My money would be on Jerry or Carl to have the best finishes among the group of boys!

You know it just makes me laugh when he jumps into a short course truck and qualifies second and I really have to say that if that truck didnt break he was on his way to victory, love him or hate him watching that race today just proves talent, But the award goes to Welchel he is definteley one of the greatest drivers.
