check the alignment of the front and rear pulley. The black clutch which is supposedly the "better" clutch and makes belt last longer came with a spacer that was wrong. We changed the spacer and got better life out of the belt but it still wasnt satisfactory. We ended up going back to the silver clutches and both cars work better and dont destroy belts.

I dont understand why the clutches would use different spacers as they are the same clutch just one has some black coating on it.

I also think a large problem is the clutches are designed for 3-8hp and the TK puts out 9 stock. The 40 series clutch is what they need and we might be trying one out real soon.

Tony knows the clutches are a problem and I am sure he is doing everything he can to come up with a solution.

what did you change with the spacer?

Length. Since the clutches are the same other then the coating the lenghts should be the same but they werent in our case. The black clutch came with a bigger spacer making it more out of alignment causing it to destroy belts. When we put the original spacer that came with the silver clutch which was shorter it made it better but overall still not as good as the car was orignally delivered with the silver clutch.

Not sure what lenght that belt is on those things. But the Can Am Renegade uses a belt and it seems to be pretty tough. Maybe that will work, just a guess.

Once the clutch is dialed I think the belt wear is more of a power issue then a belt issue...the clutch is just underrated for this application.
