I have seen the proposed course layout for Pomona on the net and I love the idea. However, I have been by the Fairgrounds lately and there is no work going on there yet. Does anyone know if they are going to move the course to the horse-track? I sure hope not. It will be fun where ever they put it, but the origional plan would be awesome...

There were there for 6, but didn't they change and redoo everthing in the last 1.5 weeks?

That is where all the peeps are whining about the mall being built?

According to sources, the track is going to be in the location as depicted on CORR's web site. From what i have been told, they are going to tear up the asphalt, use the dirt underneath to build the track, level it when they are done, and re pave it. Fairplex gets new asphalt, promoter saves money not trucking in dirt, neighbors cant get pissed about 15,000 trucks of dirt coming through the neighborhood!

Rather ingeneous if you ask me.

:p Baldwin most likely owns the hot plant for the asphalt. and the scrapers.

I dont think there will be a mall going in there because theres a mall no more then 5 minutes from there.

i go home everyday by the fairplex and it looks like they are bulding the track between white, mckinley and fairplex drive just to the side of the drag strip. not where the green circle is. dont think its complete but dirt is laid and the track looked a little small IMO. next time i drive by i will snap a pic. red arrow is where i see the track and the circle is what i believe the track is. could be wrong.

however on the laverne side i do see dirt is laid or asphalt dug up on some of the ground but no track like what i am seeing off of mckinley. would be really close to houses too if the track was going there.

what day is better to go too ? saturday or sunday ? dont understand the CORR format. went to the one in chula vista and had a blast when they had the desert trucks.

I drove by yesterday and took some spy shots. You are right CEORanger the track is right there at the McKinely and Fairplex entrance. As for what day to go - both.

That's the issue with it. Community (mall store owners) is up in arms.

Just got home from Pamona. Track is layed out. the burms will be a little higher and then start building the jumps. The hole will be about 10 foot deep and they will jump into it. some of the track will be on asphalt.

Sounds painful. Yeah that was me. I thought I would get the feeding frenzy going with a couple of teaser shots of the track but not show too much to preserve the element of surprise for everyone. I would have introduced myself but I didn't want to bother you guys while you were working. I was also helping out at the AV race flagging racers off the track and into the hot pit lane.
Too many years flinging handles and climbing on equipment? I hope for the best and for your speedy recovery...from an old Class 11 and 5-1600 racer-David

Hope the surgery goes well Dennis. Is this still the same issue you had and just getting it fixed or new?

I don't think there is any problem with posting pics of the track. Every racer is going to get to see and pratice on it prior to racing anyhow.

not much seperation between dirt and asphalt!! I think by the end of the second race they will all be racing on asphalt!!

TROPHYSEDAN
May 5th, 2007, 22:54
The dirt will be a average of 2 foot high. with the burms and jumps on top of that. there is one big section that will be asphalt. the hot pits will be asphalt. we started to make the starting line but the sheriffs still needed that sectiuon.

The bleachers are portable???

Will they even be high enough for good viewing??

At Palmdale you needed to be in the top seats to see the whole track.

DailyPedal
May 11th, 2007, 16:16
Come on dude, with enough tools and people everything is portable. And I was standing at ground level at the far north west corner of the track at pre grid and I could see 9/10 of the action. Some people are not happy until they get dirt on their teeth...LOL

The RJ traveling cercus. Rj has changed everthing 3 times allready. Theres good and bad with this track. The asphalt is a joke. the patch job on the old aspalt is a bigger joke. Its going to be hard to see in the big hole from the grand stands. I went to get my trailer and they were still trying to figure were to put the rest of the track. RJ is going to move it again. It looks like the trophy karts are going to get ripped off on there track. Becouse the high voltage power lines in front of the grand stands. best of luck to the racers.

I went to the CORR website and there is no indication that the race is sold out. I went all the way through the checkout deal (but stopped short of paying). However, I would get tickets as soon as possible as this may well sell out. And there is an RV parking option available for purchase.

Track looks cool. Three vides I can't wait to see as a race fan.

1) Robby schooling the field on that track.
2) The first bloak that takes out one of the power poles
3) The back ends of the VDubs after the Baja 500. (For the VDubs it may qualify as a "Short Course")

Did not sell the desert car, planning to race the 500. I bought Vandenhouvel's pro-lite; best case I'll have it race ready by Chula Vista, most likely I'll have it ready after the break.
