Thanks for the pictures. How much does a UTV cost? How fast to they go?

Well....it depends on what you want. A new Yamaha Rhino can be anywhere from $9000 - $12000 depending on what you want....a used one will run you around $8500 - upwards of $30,000 for a fully race built one. But they have stock classes! Arctic cat makes a Prowler, and Polaris makes a Ranger, but the rhino is the best one to race, IMO. Polaris is coming out with their new RZR real soon.......that one will be a fun little racer, too......

At this race they also raced the TomCars, which go from about 12K used to upwards of 17K new.....depending on which model you purchase. Those are slower than a stock rhino, but have better suspension than a stock rhino and I can say from experience are pretty fun to race short course - lol! They are also TOUGH!!!

A rhino can go between stock speed which is about 40 MPH to 70 MPH with heavy, heavy engine mods.....we actually put a streetbike engine in my rhino....so it can go faster than that. But for short course, it's all about torque, and getting power out of the corners......dez racing, it's about who's engine will last tapped out for so long.....or suspension! :)

Hope that helps!

Holy smack!
While I have respect for all classes, but because I didn't know much about your class I didn't really think much about it. Since I start doing research on dezert racing my whole scope of racing is now very large. My resepct for your class took a great big jump. What a large amount of money, time, and work that is put into your class, wow! I bet it's fun to drive.
good luck.

It's hard to believe, but our class is one of the least expensive classes to race (after quads and bikes)...if you stick to stock classes, you don't have to spend so much. If you have the need for speed, and are super competitive, you will wind up spending a ton of money on your racer....plus, there is alot of tipping over and rolling in the UTV classes....so there are repairs most of the time, too!! LOL!! I can't imagine what it would cost to race a nice buggy or truck.....
