Basics... 4wd, 3 seats, two-tone brown... I've got a bunch of pictures that I need to sort out, here's the most recent...
I owe a HUGE thanks to the following people for their help with this build... I could not have done it without you!
John Bitting - He's the guy that talked me into this build! John has been instrumental in keeping Anna on track and has been nice enough to drag her around behind his DD for me. I can't begin to count all of the times John has helped but it's at least 20 separate trips. Many mahalos!
Nate (and crew) @ Blitzkrieg - These guys are responsible for every tube you see on the truck. Nate also designed and built the rear end housing. It took a little longer than expected (change order or ten) but it was well worth the wait. Those guys put in insane hours and really do take pride in their work. Can't say enough good things about the crew!
Joe @ Murphco - Dirty hooker travel TTB extraordinaire! Joe built the beams and radius arms and they came out better than I had ever hoped for. If you've got a Ford question this dude knows the answer (and part #) off the top of his head. Too bad this guy isn't cranking out products 24/7 because what he does build is very nice. Hint hint Murph, take yo' talent and apply it! ;)
Todd @ Fox Racing Shox - From race shocks to dance moves, T-ODD knows all... and he does it really well too! Can't wait to get out in the dez to dial in this setup.
Randy @ Walker Evans Racing - I screwed up the first time and didn't specify the correct lug seat machining... Randy said no problem, bring the wheels in and they'll take care of it, no charge. Super good people over there! I paid a little more for a Walker Evans Racing wheel and it was well worth it, these guys are local (Riverside) and when an issue came up (my fault) they took care of it!
LJ Kennedy @ The Body Guyz - Major thanks for the use of the trailer! It would have been almost impossible to load and unload this pig without your setup. That winch is a lifesaver! Thanks for the use of the shop too... that was a lifesaver! Oh, and thanks for letting me use your truck and your trailer to tow Anna - the Yukon REALLY thanks you.
Racer X - I changed fuel cell requirements mid-build to gain rear link clearance. Racer-X had the cell in stock and shipped it out the same day... AWESOME service!
Ray & Tony @ Currie - Great team of guys and gals. I purchased a complete 9" for an S-10 back in the mid 1990's from Currie... it's nice being able to do business with the same company a decade later! A fly-by-night shop might be a little cheaper but Currie and their team is in it for the long haul - you get what you pay for!
Patrick Smith = Wiring - After seeing Pat's handywork on a few race cars I started asking around. Everyone said his attention to detail is borderline nuts. I'd agree. Pat has done a whole lot more than just run wire... he's fabricated everything necessary to get the truck wired that should have been done before the truck was dropped off.

I wasn't really an Anna Nicole Smith fan until after I started the build. The name made sense to me because the real Anna was a hot lookin' big gal and this F150 is anything but small. Anna (the truck) has a wide ***, bulged front, narrow waist, and enough room to give three people a fun ride.

Ryno-
Funny you mention that... we sold the Patrol a few months back... if you cruise by you'll see the firetruck is gone too. That'll be my next project... :) The day after I brought Anna home Arrowhead received 2-3' of snow. I ended up pulling my buddy's Tacoma out of a sink hole on Old Toll... then proceded to thrash the hell out of her at the Pinnacles. A few days later it was loaded on a trailer and taken to Glamis for it's last pre-build thrash session. That's when the back end got bent behind the cab. That was not quite 2 years ago I think... Blitzkrieg started work in the middle of 2006 and it's been not quite a year to this point. Anna needs a good bath, plumbing, electrical, motor, and a prep.
The motor is a 408w... nothing too fancy. I splurged on a custom cam ground by Jay Allen. The rest is pretty much off-the-shelf stuff, except for the Canfield heads, those had some work done to them and were built (springs / valves) with the cam in mind. The goal is 425hp on low grade Pemex. It's EFI and I've got the option to load different fuel maps if I want to. I'll get it tuned with three maps, bad Pemex (I'll be importing some from TJ), regular pump 91 and for giggles some lead free 100-ish stuff.
I'm hoping to get her out in the dirt sometime in August. I'm leaving for six weeks in a few days and it's doubtful much (if anything) will get done while I'm gone. After the initial shakedown I'd like to add a steering ram and have the interior properly pimped out. Then it's off to paint for a respray of the 1993 factory Mocha Frost Metallic and Medium Mocha, aka metallic light brown and metallic dark brown.

Nice spindles, who made them?
jeff
May 11th, 2007, 14:55
All of the fabrication is courtesy of Blitzkrieg. Murphco supplied the beams and radius arms, Blitz did some clearancing and tweaking on the beams... they are a Hybrid... Murprieg....
I talked to a bunch of TTB guys and the only common failure point I could come up with was the bolt on snout... apparently the actual cast material where the snout attaches to the knuckle can crack or tear out before the snout or attachment hardware fails. I gave Nate the go ahead to draw up and build a replacement knuckle and that's what we ended up with. The first design was going to be machined from one solid chunk... we ended up with a 3 piece system. Eric machined the face and upper/lower pivots from the original drawing. Then it's jig'd and welded. The fabricated knuckle makes it much easier to attach aftermarket calipers and the steering arm ends. I've seen plenty of guys modify the cast knuckle I've never really liked the results for the effort required. It made more sense to spend a couple bucks on the machined pieces and then have it all assembled than it did to spend hours and hours in beefing up and modifying the stock piece. If the snout / hub / outer axle shaft becomes the next weak link it'll be relatively easy to upgrade just those components.

hey jeff, wheres the mondo roof rack??
jeff
May 14th, 2007, 23:00
Matt... Nate was pretty much against the roof rack idea from the moment I first mentioned it. From that point it became one of those things that got put on the back burner. The plan is still to build a folding low profile and light weight roof rack. Overall length when unfolded will be just shy of seven feet. Long enough and wide enough to sleep on at night... during the day it'll be a good viewing platform at the races. I'll get it built before she goes in for paint.

Actually... Murph you may or may not be surprised to learn the 0* cams never made it in. I could never find a set. Local NAPA = useless. Those parts are still on the to purchase list. Work has me working a lot harder for less money these days. The toughest part is trying to make my schedule work with the girlfriends schedule (2 kids involved) and that means time just doesn't exist right now. I got a much needed haircut today. The last one was way back in early December. Trying to eek out those 30 minutes for the hair cut took a full month of planning.
That means Anna still doesn't get all of the attention she deserves.
Let's see... to get her running she needs...
Headers
Exhaust
Engine Air Filtration (air hat to fender area mounted UMP or similar)
Brake Hard Line from masters to firewall
Soft lines need to be installed (requires some tabs to be welded first)
Transmission shift cable
Xfer case linkage (not critical to 2wd operation)
Front Axle Shafts
Full Prep = Lots of little things.
She is without any doubt getting much closer but it's still a ways off.

Here's an update... March 6, 2009
Patrick Smith (Upland, CA) is wiring Anna and has exceeded every expectation I had when I dropped her off. All of the delays in completing the wiring have been my fault and Pat has done his very best to complete this part of the build for me. Without Pat's help Anna would continue to collect dust. It's been nearly impossible for me to take time off work (and kids) because of a crazy school schedule my girlfriend has. When the project was originally discussed I thought I'd be able to help more with the process and that just hasn't happened. The wiring process has required quite a bit of additional fab work and Pat has done a great job with all of it. Pat had to build a pretty trick bracket for the dash mounted GPS, a mounting panel for the fuse boxes was installed in the passenger footwell area, the main ON/OFF switch was mounted to a bracket next to the drivers seat, a pair of overhead dome lights, a Vintage Air under the dash A/C box with vents, the dash mounted switch panels, and all of the work to make the gauges and "stuff" fit into the dash. And Pat has also decided (rightfully so) to rework the EFI harness. It was hacked together for dyno tuning which meant some ugly cutting and splicing had to be fixed. Pat was also concerned the pins in the connectors were too loose and he's fixing ALL of this. Of all the people that have had a hand in the build of this truck nobody has taken a more personal "caring" approach as Pat.
I'll take some pictures when I'm down at the shop - I'm hoping to make it by there today but work might have me going another direction. The list of things still required to finish her up is pretty long but it's mostly little stuff. If there's anything worth adding to this thread I'll post it.

Three weeks of wiring over the span of three months of parts sourcing, dealing with the engineers at Holley, wrenching, tabrication, brainstorming and god knows what else; Anna's about ready to spew incoherent gibberish out her tailpipe. (header fitment and tail pipe construction pending)
Jeff has his 'to fire up' list down to a page, exhaust, plumbing, a handfull of parts, full prep and some elbow grease here & there and she'll hopefully be getting down and dirty in the near future...

It's a Vintage Air system. I forget the model name but it's one of the larger units. The A/C still needs the lines run and then the system needs to be charged. I actually bought an A/C bypass today to allow me to run the engine before I get all of the A/C stuff finished up. I also need to buy a firewall pass through for the a/c and heater lines. I've got a new condensor that I need to install too. A heater flow control valve needs to be installed and the actual duct hose still needs to be hooked up. Install the drier, the pressure switch, get the lines made, have the system charged, and then the HVAC stuff will be finished.
I've said it before and I'll say it again... I can't say enough good things about Patrick Smith and the work he has performed on this project. If Anna could she'd give him a big ol' smooch. Pat has done a whole lot more than just wire the truck. Once everything is finished I'll post a list of what Pat has accomplished. I would estimate that Pat has spent as much or more time doing non-wire related projects. And this is why I highly recommend Pat to somebody that needs more than just a wiring guy. Pat has an attention to detail that exceeds my own and Anna is turning out nicer because of this.
So right now there's a small list of things that need to be finished up. Headers are mocked up but not installed. Exhaust from headers back needs to be built. Fuel line and fuel return needs to be plumbed. Brake plumbing is there but it's not yet installed. Need some 3/8" by 1.75" fasteners for the crank pulley, hook up the coolant hoses, get a throttle cable, size and install the transmission shifter cable, then a full prep. Almost every nut and bolt is loose, most have been sized, but a few need some attention before the truck sees the dirt. Windshield, rear glass, spare tire straps, figure out a jack, damn... the list is longer than I thought.

A local place in Ontario. I forget the name of the company but I originally found them via eBay. They were way cheaper than the stealership, I wanna say about $80 bucks for the pair. I could have polished up some stockers with some 1000 grit and some plastic polish but I prefer this lens look better. I think they call it "Diamond" series.
Jkrell - Mexico? No thanks. I'll happily drive to Mexico but not in anything I own.

Here's an item number that has the headlight, corner, and turn signal. Item # 170340367293
It's the same company that I bought my headlight only from. I searched their store for the headlight by itself and found nada. I paid $44.90 for the pair of headlights + $29.00 for shipping. It's one of those deals where they drop the item price and raise the shipping. Still, $75 bucks for a pair of new headlamps seemed reasonable.
