Well, with the All Star Race this weekend and the 600 the week after in the old car, what are your thoughts.......RG and Team have a much better handle on this car, especially with the 1 1/2 mile program. I look for a better weekend at the Coca Cola 600, something very much needed by RG, RGM and all of his fans. The All Star Race would be nice, getting thru the open, but I am not getting my hopes up. To bad we will not be seeing him at Indy this year. I really hope Tony George does some thinking about this all (starting time) and can work something out with ABC for an earlier starting time of the race and all since ABC/ESPN and Nascar are back together again.

:D LOL!!! The only reason I say he should do well is the first few races were all in the old car and they did pretty well.
The new car he is averaging a 33rd place finish rounding up
The old car he is averaging a 23 place finish, including a blown motor at Talladega.
that is 110 points lost, that could have him in 24th place, on the heels of 23rd.

Speed = no HD plus I'll be driving back from Parker at that time and do not have SIRUS in the Funmover. 2 years ago I got married the night of the all star race so I've just let it go for this year as well.
I'm just pissed that Tony G. cannot see that starting INDY next week 1 hour earlier would give him much needed exposure by giving RG and maybe others a chance at the double. I guess that rant is for another thread.

Its all good, I started it on the Indy 500 thread, but here is good also......Tony George is killing himself, between having Gene Simmons promote the series to all of this Indy crap. If I remember correctly though, I though the time change was a power play by Tony and ABC, remember, ABC/Espn was not with Nascar then. That killed the ratings of the Indy......Indy and Champ Car need to get together and do what is right for opened wheel racing. Can you imagine, 40 plus legit teams going at it for every race.......

Yep! I heard he backed it into the wall. I guess they where going to look at trying to fix it, but then they pulled out the back up car. Chances are they will not get back on the track until they try to qualify. At least this is not a points race! Also if he wreaks this car then they might be really in trouble for next week. Usually if the All Star car works good and does not get wreaked they bring it bacck the next week. If it does then they usually run the back up car. RGM better have another car at the shop ready for next week if needed.

I didn't see the RG back it into the wall but I'm thinking if they even thought it could be fixed then it must not have been that bad. If RGM can't fix a car in a week then this could be a clue to their troubles. Now if the chassis is jacked then a week would be a push but not impossible.
Did anyone catch MM blowing the motor? Was said to be one of the new R07 engines. Will be interesting to see what went south and why.

AT&T will be on the #31 car starting this weekend! It's funny months ago AT&T was willing to work with Nextel and keep the jack on the hood of the car and just put a small globe on the rear quarter panel. Now that AT&T has won the car will have a huge globe on the hood and a huge globe and the words AT&T across the sides of the rear quarters and bumper cover. The car is still orange but I bet that will change soon also. To see a picture go to Jayski.com.
AT&T Judge: Let AT&T into NASCAR, NASCAR Statement: A federal judge on Friday ruled that AT&T can replace a Cingular logo with its own on a NASCAR race car, following its absorption of the Atlanta-based wireless company. The decision marks an important victory for AT&T. The company sued NASCAR in March, alleging that the racing organization improperly prevented AT&T from putting its brand on the #31 car driven by Jeff Burton. The vehicle currently is branded for the former Cingular Wireless. AT&T took control of Atlanta-based Cingular in late December and is in the process of shedding the Cingular name. NASCAR objected to AT&T's proposal for adding its logo to Burton's stock car. The racing organization cited a deal with Sprint Nextel, which holds the title sponsorship for NASCAR's top racing series. NASCAR said its agreements with Sprint Nextel prohibit the addition of other telecommunications companies as sponsors. Judge Marvin Shoob, of the U.S. District Court in Atlanta, ruled that AT&T would be likely to win the case. He agreed with AT&T's argument that a change in brands is allowed under a grandfather clause that was put in place to protect Cingular, despite Sprint Nextel's deal with NASCAR.(Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
UPDATE: been told the AT&T-branded car is scheduled to make its debut tomorrow at the All-Star Challenge race in Charlotte, NC.,

Man, Nascar does not like people going against what they dictate. Richard Childress and AT&T have essentially ***** slapped them in the face. I wonder if we will start seeing Nascar harrass RCR because of this, you know, the typical things, longer trips thru tech, questionable calls going against RCR, a few more debris cautions when an RCR car is leading.........YOu know, the typical things Nascar does to guys they are upset with.

Alright, I need some positive fengsui or whatever, so here is the best picture I can paint through my admittedly rose colored glasses:
RG went and beat the crap out of a truck over the weekend running CORR and then fixed it and got some frustration worked out.
Now he is prerunning in Mexico as we speak and is really getting his confidence built up while his new CC is working with Greg Erwin using the info from last weekend to have a kick @$$ car this weekend and bring home a top 15, thus ending the skid.
This momentum, along with a great Busch finish and sponsor announcements are going to make this the weekend that all the fans, fairweathered and faithful, will look back on at the end of the year as the weekend that RG made his charge back into the top 20.
True or not, I feel better now... If ignorance is bliss, please don't tell me I'm wrong. HAHAHA.

During the all star race they had one of the Busch brothers (I think Kurt) listed in 2nd place several laps after they wrecked out. Who the heck is running that part of the show? I heard on Sirius this morning that one of the guys talked to Robby and he was really hoping for cooler weather as the hot weather makes the cars really loose before the sun goes down. And I heard it was in the 80's today so it was hotter then most drivers would like. RG was a 1/2 second of the leaders in first practice. I'm thinking that RG might be taking it a little easy as he might be a little gun shy as he backed one into the fence last week in practice. And being that I would assume this was the primary car for this race he does not want to have to go to a back up again. There are a few good teams back there too #24, #20, #99. Those cars ran good last weekend. I bet he will be ok tonight in qualifying, and he does go out 44th so that should also help.
On a side note Toyota was suppose to have a new power curve in there motors for this race and wase'nt Toyota building a car for MWR for this race? After first practice MWR cars were 44th David, 45th DJ and 46th POS. Other Toyota teams are 19th AJ, 24th Blaney, 29th Vickers and 38th Mayfield. So MWR are still the slowest Toyota's. Then again they could be taking it easy to as they dont want to wreck any cars too.

LOL... Land is bought and paid for, all easements are done and recorded (ingress, edison, waterworks) All the pipeline engineering is done and in permitting, Trusses are engineered, Pre engineered floor structure for garage #1 is done (Jack- RDC "Desertsport"). Geo/soils testing, septic perc done. Fire department has reviewed and gave the thumbs up. Local town council has reviewed and approved. Civil engineered grading plan is done and submitted for permit. Structural engineering on the three structures is to be done next week. Then I submit the plans to building and safety then wait 3-6 months more. I would say I will be breaking ground in 4-7 months.

Freakin fox. means no more practice coverage today on Speed I am guessing.
The silver lining has to be that he went out and Q'd into a respectable spot with his Busch car in what is basically a 3/4 Cup field.

This is just my opinion, and you all have heard me a hundred times, but he should really go race in Cup for a contender, that's if they would even hire him. If he wants to run a team with his name on it, have a team, hell have several teams in Busch and the truck series like his buddy Kevin Harvick........We are in year 3 now and they are just limping around. Yes there are multiple reasons, but reasons do not pay the bills or get more sponsorship for more cars let alone their own....Performance does and besides for that little stretch last year, it just has not been even close. And now Greg Erwin, the man who helped orchestrate that nice little run is officially gone to Roush. First Mike Beam sucked, he is now at Roush doing very well in the truck series, now Greg Erwin sucks.... he is on the box for the fricken 16 team, who is 12th in points starting tonight. What about John Story.......Maybe they are just seeing the writing on the wall before RG is, I do not know, but there has been a hell of alot of talent that has left RGM for one reason or another, and they are all with big budget teams, doing well. THis is just an outsider speaking, a fan, but when people leave one job for another, these are the factors usually involved.....THey either want more money, want a promotion or they are just not happy. Well, the 3 I just listed did not get promotions, if anything they were lateral moves or actually demotions, but they went to work for bigger teams with bigger staffs and bigger budgets.......That tells alot.....

Anyways, my point was, there has been alot of talent that has walked into RGM's door only to walk right back out a short time later. ALot of people seem to be treating this as a slump, not a big deal........I think it is alot more than a slump, I see a ship that is sinking. The performance itself is just a symptom of what seems to be going on behind the scenes. John Story leaving, slashing the marketing staff, loosing major sponsorship, Greg Erwin leaving, loosing support staff and then the performance across the board, all of this within several months time.........Racing aside, from a business standpoint, which I do have knowledge in, this would send 4 great big red flags to me as a potential investor.

RGM at least stoped the major flow of blood the new CC seemed to take control and instead of asking if a change he had in mind was OK with RG or even asking the owners opinion he decideed on the change and made it. I dont know about the whole Sonoma thing.......He has not had the greatest luck there the last few years, actually since the win really. Now add it is a COT race, and the fact that there are more COT races in between, which they have been absolutely horrible at. Roush said Hendrick has over 100 test days in the COT........ANd we wonder why they are so dominant. Well, Roush just hired a 6 man test team and purchased a tractor/trailer to pull around their test car to non-sanctioned race tracks (my idea for RG:D ) That is what I feel RG needs to do to help get up to speed in the COT. If it is a money issue, atleast partner up with somebody and do the same. THey need info on this thing in a bad way. Now, my question is, does it even matter who you team up with manufacturer wise, other than different stickers, the bodies on the COT's are the same. I guess as long as the chassis are the same, it would not matter......I am sure that would upset Ford if they built a testing alliance with a non Ford team......It all costs money

I thought Toyota did a great job compared to where they have been in this past year.....THis was a 600 mile race, 2 toyotas, 1 Dodge and a Chevy blew up, which is not uncommon at this race. The key IMO was that Toyota was actually competetive, actually the teams were other than POS Racing. Brian Vickers got a top 5 with no power steering for half of the race. Jeremy Mayfield was in the top 10 until he blew up with 2 laps to go, and Dale Jarrets was more than likely from reverse rotation of the motor from when he spun out. THere are probably some bugs to work out as this was the first race with the new top end configuration, but I think they are in the ball park, that is just me.

This may be arrogant on my part, but I think that RG will put it to him......Lets see what JM does without traction control and those big/soft Michelins. I think pitching a big trophy truck around corners in the dirt at 80 mph is alot more similar to a stock car on a road course than a 60 million state of the art race car that is heavily aided by computers. If RGM can get a decent setup under the COT for the race, I think RG will shine, barring any bad luck. A few things that people (media)just forget or do not want to remember.....RG was offered with a ride in F1, he turned them down........He is every bit as talented as any of those guys.... The racers in F1 are talented, no doubt, but just look at some of the drivers who were nothing 3 years ago, I mean nothing and are kicking *** now......Vise versa, look at some of the drivers who kicked butt 3 years ago and now are also racers.....Technology is key over there, like anywhere else and the best equipment wins, not the best driver, like here as well. I really believe with all of my heart that RG, Tony, JG could race over there and be competetive with good equipment. Because of that, while JM can drive, He is not on another level or anything, like the media makes him out to be.

Do not mark this as fact, but I think the RCR deal was more of RG wanting to race Dakar, something RC was not for at all, and RC thought that RG racing Indy was starting to becoming a distraction. RG has always wanted to do what he wanted to do, and does not like being told what he can and can not do. Unfortunately, I think he may end up hurting his legacy in a big way by doing things the way he has.

Hmm.. he felt the same thing about Childress too..
man I wish RG still had chevy power plants.. there just so damned dominant..
Chevy's aren't dominant...Hendrick is...you really have to get over your love of chevy stuff and look at things from an unbiased perspective...and of course Chevy is going to win most of the races in NASCAR...like 75% of the cars/engines are chevy...its like saying a Ford won a BITD race....Well, duh?!?!

Granted there was no Cup racers there... But he did really good in Mexico.
You are right, he did, but I am sorry, Carl Edwards or Denny hamlin are not Tony Stewart and Robby Gordon. To be honest, I think that Jeff Gordon has a pretty big handicap with running Hendrick equipment. I guarantee you, you could put the 4 of these guys in lawn tractors and RG would probably win. I look for RG or Tony for the win, as long as RGM can get the COT dialed in and we will know that come qualifying.
