Double duty for Gaughan - Dover/Baja 500: Brendan Gaughan [#77] will be logging both miles on track and in the air this weekend as he will pull double duty in the AAA Insurance 200 race at Dover on Friday and in the Baja 500 in Mexico on Saturday morning. This will be the third of Gaughan's six scheduled SCORE desert races this year. Following the NCTS race on Friday afternoon, Gaughan will board his family's plane with his mother and fellow desert racer Robby Gordon to fly to San Diego. DOVER, Del. - Gene Nead, who won a Craftsman Truck Series title as a crew chief in 2005 with Ted Musgrave, is looking forward to actually having time during a race to improve a vehicle.

Nead began working for Robby Gordon a couple of weeks ago, replacing Greg Erwin as crew chief.


"It's a lot easier than a truck race or Busch race to get your car working because you only have a couple of shots at it," Nead said. "The downside of it is the competition is a lot tougher, so you only have a couple of shots to get your car right before you're a lap down."

Nead had worked at Kevin Harvick Inc. and Bill Davis Racing in the last 15 months. At BDR, Nead worked a lot on the car of tomorrow, including going to tests with Dave Blaney.

Gordon is 33rd in points.

"Right now, we're just trying to put everything together so we can get up to speed," Nead said. "We've only gotten to do one test [together] with our car of tomorrow, and I think we made pretty good progress."

Let's hope your right. Robby and Menard go back to Indy. One bridge he didn't burn. However, IF Menard did coem over, wouldn't RG have to go back to Chevy?? With the multi-vehicle racing he does, and now sponsors carrying over from race-race (Monster, verizon, motorola) why wouldn't he go chevy, and get Hendrick bullets? What a great shot in the arm for the whole RGM team. Mike Joy sure likes Robby, when he was in 15th he was his pick for the RACE. Great driving to get a top 10.

What's the deal with Jarrett and motors? He's blown 4-5 in a row now. POS almost took out about 5 cars as well. I see Toyota giving him a dose of reality next year.

Great run for RG! It was sweet to see POS put RG back on the lead lap. Did anyone else catch the incar shots of POS and the way he was resting his head? I thought he was checking gauges or about to fall asleep...

Any news about hot head KTB? Should be interesting to see what happens. I mean if one cheats say like the #8 team the CC has to sit out for awhile and it cost 100k or what ever amount. I would hope Nascar would not tolerate this type of behavior from any driver. It is one thing to hit cars out on the track, were everyone has a cage, but drivers just can't go hitting other cars on pit road like Kurt Busch choose to do to TS.

Same here - beer or work?? That's a tough one. Robby's best race of the year and most of us missed it. I guess I'd rather miss a top 10 than watch a top 40!

I believe Robby would stay with Ford. His number one reason to move over to the blue oval was because of factory support.

I didn't see how long RG signed the contract with Ford, but even with Ford's woes this year, you got to believe it's cyclical and if he rides it out and keeps improving his performance, the support from Ford will continue to improve. I would really like to see Ford get on board with his off-road deal, but either Ford is too dumb, or GM is too smart to let him go- maybe a combo of both.

Work was done by noon. Although I did start at midnight. The boss likes to push when the job is almost done, and the company gets 52k per day early finish. Bridge work is nice...when it's close to home.
