What vehicle is that gonna be ran on??

CMazzulla

This front end will be used with a fullsize truck cab or an unlimited truck. The unlimited truck design is alot different where it connects to the bottom of the chassis, it intigrates with the boxed sheet metal back to the 4 link pivots instead of a tube like in the picture shown.

Hey chris when are you going to build a 2007 f-150 supercrew? I asked you if you would build mine when we were at the DA film shoot on the dry lake bed. I was the guy driving in front with the camera in the bed of my truck. I had asked you and you never answered me. HAHA. What do you think. Time to build a ford??:D

Sorry, I would love to. I can only design and R&D so many parts at once. I am trying to always have one new production kit in the works and I just got done with the 2007 chevy silverado so ford might be next. Im sure craig will show some of those pics too. The focuse right now is getting this unlimited stuff to the expo this year.

Oh for sure. I understand everything you just said. By the way, the new all black siverado crewcab that you just built is the best ever. Keep it up!!:D

Looks incredible!!

Not much Ackerman going on...from the elooks of it. I guess its not needed much for full-time off-road stuff.

Can't wait to see it in action!

There is normal ackerman in the steering arm (C/L rear axle).

January 8th, 2008, 12:50
I have just learned about the details of whole ackerman concept. So now I looking for it everywhere! I guess it can be visually deciving how little offset is required in the steering arm to do the job.

Thanks for the clairfication...the learning continues!

Nice cad work, when you draw up a complet plate bulkhead like that, do you do every piece individually and assemble them or just do one entire part?

Is is just me or is looking ad sexy CAD screen captures almost as good as seeing real parts. When the drawings are as detailed as Craig's, the project seems as good as built.

CRAIGHALL
January 8th, 2008, 16:04
Yeah I just draw lego's for a living !

All parts are drawn individually but "within" the entire assembly. I can see & relate to all other parts.

I love to see a cad view and a matching real life pic.

I just modeled up a little SW Ackerman experiment at lunch....I'm straight now. I was thinking the steering arms need inboard offset=WRONG. Its all about the steering arms being off-set outboard the pivot. The angles in the pictures make it hard to see as well.

It's because I have a Toyota with the rack mounted behind the suspension....which flips everything around. :o

Got to love this stuff!

I had a question about this, but didn't want to hijack this thread. Would you mind answering a few SW questions? -> LINK (http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38265)

Ok, so I finally got a minute to post some pictures so here they are. This paticular front end will go on a prerunner for Daniel Duro (San Manuel Racing). A matching front end will be created shortly for his TT. The TT Front end will be a complete boxed sheet metal floor from front bulkhead to the four link pivot boxes instead of the tube design here. The idea for the tube design is to make this package univerasal for different wheelbases , the TT chassis will be 125". As far as all of the ackerman/caster/camber/etc... It is really a preference from the builder and driver, everybody has their own opinions on what works, I have mine and this is it.;)

Figured I would resurect this thread for Chris. I believe this is the same front end that's installed on my prerunner being built and assembled by 3D Offroad in Visalia, CA which has a scheduled completion date of.....REAL SOON....right?!:)

No problem it was due for it. Everyone needs to see this front suspension on a finished truck to be able to really appreciate it.
