Would a 1450 race truck really need rear brakes?? My buddy is always having problems with his rear brakes going out, brake lines leaking. Everything. I tell him to get rid of them and just use the front discs. I tell him this because I have a buddy that races 1450 and he doesnt have rear brakes and he says it is way better then to deal with the hassle of rear. What does eveyone think???

Yes he needs them, unless his only goal is to drive around and make dust and run into stuff. MDR would be easier to get away without brakes than Baja but I cant imagine someone doing it on purpose.

you have to be kidding me?? sounds like he needs a new prep guy. brake plumbing is not rocket science get some line have some braided lines made up and go to work! if he can't get the brakes to stay together i wonder what the rest of the truck is like?

I think if your not missing the rear brakes your aren't going fast enough to be on the race track.
Like stated above, it's not rocket science. Get them working so that they lock up first. That way when you stand on the brakes you can still steer and not run into stuff. Is there an echo in here?

Required by rule! Rear brakes are used for more than stoping - have you ever watched Larry Ragland drive. I'd rather not have front brakes than rear in most situations.

The question you should be asking is:
"Does anyone know how to set-up rear brakes so I won't have anymore problems?"
As already stated, real basic stuff...

Plain and simple. FIX THE LINES!! Put a brake bias adjuster in. Set the rear brakes heavy. Lite on the front so they dont lock up and you can steer through corners.

Just remove the front and rear brakes and weld a rotor to the output shaft monster truck style. If it can stop those beasts it can stop your buddy too and when the rotor breaks (no pun) from the welding, he can use engine braking.
Maybe Robby G started a new trend at last years Terrible Cup.

No you dont "need" rear breaks, but if you dont run them make sure to cut a hole in the floorboard to stick your feet through to stop it.

You don't need front OR rear brakes, they're for sissies. Real men just run into whatever is in front of them, or power slide into a parking spot a la Elwood Blues...
