I called score today to see what kind of vehicle you can use to do the recon lap. Paul Fish told me that they are not letting Rhino's, Quads, Dirt Bikes or race cars run the lap. Only prerunners or street legal vehicles. Any comments on this?

Did you really mean no race trucks?
That seems weird. We are planning to use our prerunner
only cause we don't get to use it enough. But we usually
use our race truck to see how it's running.
I understand no rhinos, bikes etc.

He said no race vehicles...They dont want anyone going race speeds on the recon lap.....You can call and double check, but thats what i was told...

Interesting. Although our class 7, isn't the same as trophy truck.

I am sure a lot of people will use prerunners, just be sure to let the marshalls know that when you pass them and keep your speeds to something a stock truck would do. Then you will have nothing to worry about.

WE run our HMS Avenger last year for the prerun and they never said a thing. We did the same thing the year before to see how it handles. Sucks if they aren't going to let you this year..

No worries Jim, I have done it a few times in my crew cab and although I don't care about bushes there really are none on the course. Most of it is wide and if you don't mind a 5 hour pre run the AC will be nice, or the wipers if it's raining.

He said no race vehicles...
It's most likely a BLM rule. Usually the same rule for SNORE races

At this race rental agency vehicles work great. Recommend the AWD Cadillac STS. 300+ HP, seats 4 in Gucci leather, the latest A/C technology, and none of that slow speed wear n tear on your own rig. Oh, get satellite radio option ‘cause at those speeds the CD tends to skip (haha).
Back to reality…Ok, just go slow refrain from "race mode" and you should be fine…

Thats funny to think that those half a million dollar prerunners are not faster then most of the race cars. A TT with AC and a CD player is about it.

Reminds me of (this years) Laughlin when all four of us were in our pre-runner just doing a "recon" lap when all of a sudden, this black TT passes us like we're standing still, then throws it into a slide and proceeds to pepper us. I couldn't see who it was but I think he was a Dale Earnhardt fan because he had a 3 on the side of the truck!!

That happened to us only it was a 6 I believe. Large stones and pebbels were sprayed right in the vehicles cockpit and peppered the drivers.

So, to get this straight. A 4 seat prerunner (buggy) with a green sticker but not a license plate is acceptable for the prerun?????

Also need to mention that little kids generally are not allowed on the pre runs here due to the insurance restrictions.

Looked obvious to me who he reports to have talked to. It also looked like he did ask SCORE a question and was trying to pass that information on to others and it looks like he thought it sounded unusual. I'm in no way saying that what he was told was accurate or not, but perhaps it was a bit premature to shoot the messenger?

as i stated before you may if so inclined "prerun in your race vehicle ", this is the same as it has ALWAYS been, and NO this guy that said he talked to paul and got that info is mistaken, (no offence intended just trying to staighten out the confusion)

Oh boy, does this bring back memories, I was prerunning w/Bajafox I think two or three years ago in his basically stock tacoma when we see this class 10 coming up from behind at a good speed, we pulled over almost immediately but not before he gave us a love tap...when we "inquired" about the tap back at the parking lot-- lots of finger pointing ensued w/ no real resolution, "I was'nt driving, he was driving, no the guy who isnt here was driving, what do you mean you got tapped? " Chaulked it up to experience. Now we just laugh about it.

I was hesitant to bring that story up but when I read that there would be no race cars on the recon run, I thought it was a great idea. Some n00bs think you can go at race speeds during the recon run because they're in a race car...
I did get in contact with the owners of that car with no result, I did everything Oscar Ramos asked me to do to get it resolved and nothing ever happened. Everyone I talked to said it was technically a hit and run too...oh well. I dont have that truck anymore
Like you said, now we just laugh about it, but it everytime I see that Class 12 (not 10) at a race, I keep thinking karma will get 'em back.

According to official SCORE issued Press Release, zero prerunning is allowed till the designated course recon time frame on friday. This should include heros, legends, and tv superstars too. Thanks for your cooperation.
check the first two lines:
http://www.score-international.com/
Afterall these rules are mandated by the BLM python that is constricing our options for this race and race area. No matter how elite, we all need to follow the rules to the T with no exceptions.

You are all so silly......well I could have posted that rules are there to be broken but I won't take this any further.
It was a joke on a thread that is all about a bunch of misinformation.
a) My TT doesn't go 147 b) Truck is still at Geisers c) 147 through Pit B would mean I carelessly flew across the road crossing of Knight Ranch Rd.
I don't cheat, but I guarantee there were no less than 50 people pre running what they thought was the course.
Here is a fact that I choose not to live by - Open desert is open desert and when the course is not marked it is not cheating. I still would never do it but some do and technically it is not against the rules.
Have a nice day - this usually means I am messing with someone.

kinda yeah. Anyone that disregards rules that are set for this event.
I think Cams a great guy and really appreciate what he is doing/ has done for the sport.
If he can put up a "screen" and call it anything other than prerunning, has been permitted to do so, and make his way through any red tape, than all the power to him and gaining an edge.
I hope he does well in Primm I just dont think he needs the stars aligned to do so, which really seems to be happening

I was out riding my motorcycle down Knight Ranch Road when I saw what I believed was a dustdevil coming my way. It was a big giant off road rock crawly thingy that was goin' about 137 mph or so, and it had a number on the side, think it said 16 or something like that. Anyone see what I saw? The driver flipped me off, yelling at me "So Cal ROCKS!".
