1982...After the good response to 1981 notes, I thought some guys would want to share thoughts/ images on the 1982 run to La Paz..
Mickey Thompson has a great story in these notes....

what i remember most is how small the race was. If nobody had raced a bike it would have been a gohst town in Ensanada before the race, and so many classes with only 1 or 2 entrys made it pretty lonely on cource

Finishing ratio was 53%... but only 135 starters = 40 vehicles/ 29 bikes
I bet there was close to "80" Sportsman Bikes in last year's race alone!

It had to be lonely with that few of cars/ bikes on th course..but what an adventure.

Wow, that's a blast from the past. Look at item 34, Mickey Thompson in a Class One Raceco, with an air-cooled motor and Jeff MacPherson in a Class 8, tied for the overall lead into the first check point at 57+ mph. 25 years ago

Yeah, but not as much riff-raff hanging out along the course. If you saw people along the course you slowed down 'cuse something was up.
