Getting ready to finalize our dates to leave and return. Does anybody know exactly what day the race will start? On Score`s website it shows one scenario to start on Nov 13th. Under the Schedule of Events it shows the 15th?? Anybody know for sure?

According to the website the official race start in Ensenada on the 13th, but the mandatory Tijiuana festivies begin November 11th with the Parade on the 12th.

...are we sure that TJ is going to be mandatory? I for one am not real happy at the prospect of "having" to spend 2 days in TJ.

I am curious about this too! We want nothing to do with TJ and are REALLY hoping it isnt mandatory!

Count me in that too. Everyone blames all the ensenada theivery on the TJ locals. Now were going into the lions den? No thanks!! I dont understand the reasoning behind it. Yeah its the 40th year the race has been held... big deal.

TJ is not what I go to Mexico for. TJ is the only place I have ever been hassled and falsely accused by the people who are supposed to protect the citizens. (TJ Banditos.....errr..... I mean the Policia)

Stay in San Diego and run across the border for festivities, or stay in Ensenada and drive up for the robberies......errr, shoot! I did it again.....I mean festivities........

Stay in San Diego and run across the border for festivities,

If it is mandatory, that is our plan!

I saw a post on Thumpertalk where someone had spoken to Score and had been told that TJ is NOT mandatory.

Interesting! I wonder if it is NOT mandatory, who would actually go?

Rumors until proven, not until reputable member speaks with SCORE do we know what is mandatory or not...from what I understand the parade is mandatory, the rest is unknown, PAB whats the word?

The person who spoke with score is the moderator of the Baja forum on Thumpertalk. You can view the thread here http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=534048&page=2

Here's the meat of it...

Just confirmed with SCORE that the "Festivities" which include a parade of vehicles from Tijuana to Ensenada is OPTIONAL...

According to SCORE, the registration, inspection and contingency hoopla will take place Monday 11/12 in ENSENADA.

Essentially, this means racers and teams can avoid spending time in TJ before the race. The "parade" thing is scheduled for SUNDAY and its not required. If you want to do the parade, you can. Apparently, several vehicles from the 1967 B1000 have been restored and will be featured in the parade.

Take it for what it's worth....it is the internet after all

I can tell you that we don't plan to be in TJ.

Also....in regards to the recent posts about the car jacking. There appears to be a theme....late night/early morning.

You can bet that we've baked our plan to cross mid morning when there's as many people on the road as possible. So what if it takes a little longer. It's Baja, there's really no reason to be in a hurry ;)

I am planning to go, there will be a lot of cool old vintage race cars there, and we might get the chance to drive on dirt roads from TJ to Ensenada (unless it's going to be a toll road parade).

Still, it should be a cool party to blow off steam after the long pre-race thrashing we're all going to have to do to get ready for this race.
