The highly underrated, yet super-fun, super-challenging and super-exciting Alta Vista Events SuperCourse Desert Gran Prix Series has rounded the corner and it's heading for the stretch. There are two events left in the six-event Series and several Classes are still tied for the all important Class Points Championships. In some Classes the difference in points between second, third and even fourth place can be measured in two hands. It's that close.
To top it all, coming off a very hot summer and two super-heated races (in June and August), the Series is now heading into OCTOBER 13, 2007, for the fifth round.
October in Cal-City is heaven on earth for the riding and racing crowd. No place in this Country is better to ride, with over 250 square miles of open desert. Racers will be met with a real challenge this time.
Many have been asking for tougher, more technical courses. This is the ONE! In fact, when laying out the course, race promoter, Lou Peralta, has actually laid out three different courses: (1) The BIG KIDS course of almost 9 miles long and will go through rocks, one-lane hills, deep whoops and a super-downhill to test the mettle of racer and his/her equipment. (2) The alternate course for Quads and Women bypasses the nasty hills in order to avoid major blockage, yet it's a bit longer to make all things equal. Still challenging and racers will still be faced with the monster downhill and lots of deep whoops. (3) Then of course, there's always the Kids' course of about 4+ miles. This one eliminates altogether the major hills but gives the young desert lions a good chance to learn the pitfalls and challenges of the Cal-City desert.

In all, Round 5 of the Alta Vista Ranch GP will set the stage to see who will win the coveted Class titles and the Master Overall Crown, which will be determined in December after Round 6.

The course has not been marked yet, so if you're following the proposed racecourse map on our website, it may mislead you. We've looked at those areas and we're looking at others as well. The final course will not be known until we give everyone a "Parade Lap" just before the start of the GP.

Nonetheless, it's good to see the interest in our next event (Round 5 - Saturday, OCTOBER 13), as we see a lot of riders riding all over our hills, checking things out. As long as you stay on the current trails, roads, streets and easements, you're OK. Please don't go searching off the trails as we never mark our courses on private property. We use unmaintained County roads.

This weekend is awesome after the rains we've had.
