OK, so I've noticed that Biggeo has a thread going called 1600 car build-up and I guess I'm in the same boat. Please bear with me guys (and girls) since I'm definitely a newby.
I've been racing desert on 2 wheels for awhile (AMA D37) and I've decided to build my first 4-wheeled project with the hopes of racing class 5100 in BITD. With a 5100 car, what other classes in different sanctioning bodies will I be able to run?
What I have right now is a '69 bug chassis that needs some TLC. I will post pictures of what I have now when I get home today and my progress as things get done. Other then stripping the car down, where do I start?
Also, what sized rims and what specific tires should I purchase? I know that this may be a weird question at this point but the car has 4 flat, rotted tires and I want to get the rims and tires now so I can roll it around while I work in the garage.
I appologize for this post being all over the road, but like I said, I'm new here and really haven't a clue where to start. PS - I do have great mechanical skills and can do most all of the work myself.
Thanks in advance!
