I am trying to figure out what type of gearing would be the the best to run for this yaers 1000. i am running a 2004 YFZ 450 ATV. i would like to gear it high, but at the same time keep in mind increasing reliabilty in the clutch and transmission, if any body could help me out here that would be great.

This is way cool. But I find it hard to believe that a 400ex will go as fast as 79 mph with 22" tires. Also, how do we determine the rpm on a quad?

I run 15/38, if that calculator is correct i am going +-71 Miles per hiur at 7500... not bad. i think this will do pretty well during prerunning, but come race time, i might need to go just a little faster. but at the same timewhen you regear the bike to go faster you lose dependability. there is never a golden ratio.

I raced this years baja 250 on am '04 YFZ450 with I'm pretty sure 15-37. The quad had tons of torque but I did fell we needed a lower gear in the rear cause it felt like it wanted another gear while pinned. Which is probably why we blew our motor 10 miles from the finish. I would suggest 15-36.

but would gearing like that put more stress on the chain and clutch?
