View Full Version : Any Truth To The Rumor - Pro Spec Chassis Fabrication?

I've heard that the Pro Spec class will be limited to one designated chassis manufacturer. The CORR site is down right now and I haven't been able to check the current rules.

Seems like a bad way to go if this is true. Competition is always a good thing.

Does anyone know what the story is on this?

No truth as far as I know...I talk to Tony Vanillo with CORR all the time about this class and he would have told me, as he knows I am negotiating with customers right now for a few PRO-SPEC trucks. If anybody is interested in complete race ready PRO-SPEC trucks or a roller. Call or e-mail me and I will get a quote out to you immediately.

I just spoke to Gary Lane, Tech Director at CORR. There is no truth to the rumor :D . Glad to hear it. Should be a good class.

I am not sure it is a real good situation as too cost Vs Pro 2 though. I am in a position to buld my own chassis and engine. For the approx. $20,000.00 cost from TurnKey for an LS-7, I can build one haul a** all aluminum small block, 18 degree heads and all.

But thats just me. For those that prefer to purchase a turn key truck (or close to it) it's probably a good deal.

The real savings on this class will not be in the initial buy (although it is cheaper than PRO-2. If you can buy a new front running PRO-2 turn-key race ready for around 115K let me know...I want one!). The savings will come in on less wear and tear in the engine and drive train over the course of a year. I am sure some of those savings will be offset by body cost, as this should be a very competitive class. The beauty of this class is the fact that you know when you get in the truck and sit on the starting grid you have the same chance of winning (depending on chassis setup and driver skill) as the guy next to you. It may not be apparent yet, but as this NBC deal grows and sponsor money comes rushing in the average guy will not be able to touch the top teams in PRO-2, I'm not sure that is even possible now. The PRO-SPEC class will give smaller teams a chance to prove themselves in a similar but underpowered truck that can be re-worked and made into a PRO-2 when they have the experience and sponsor backing to move up.

I think you started the rumor!no one else has said anything about only one builder and I believe more than one shop represented on this forum is planing on building Spec Chassis.

I heard a rumor that Tom is actually Todd Pride of Pride In Motion Motorsports! oh wait, that is not a rumor just someone got my name wrong. I know of one builder who will remain nameless (and no it's not Tom or Todd) that was trying to lock up the chassis, engine and trans building in PRO-SPEC. CORR told them no dice, that might be the origin of the rumor.

Sorry Todd, I couldn't read my own writing on the paper I wrote your phone number on.

Bill, I've heard it from a number of people. I have no need to start rumors. There are enough small minded people out there that do that already.

Friendly group here.
