Anybody know the story? I met the guy that is driving his old truck this weekend. He said he was killed? His sister drove my truck (Jimmy Crowder's class 7s ranger) some in the late 90's?

I didn't get the name of the guy who is racing his truck. But he said that it had been sitting for quite some time and they had a ton of stuff going wrong. I guess Chad never got to race the truck? He also said that his sister raced a few with my truck then moved on to race Chads truck in the Heavy Metal Women's class. He said some big names drove the truck too. Class 4?

Oh, he also said it was built by Curt LeDuc. I guess chad was racing Bronco's for him?

The truck was built by Curt Leduc in 1996 (give or take a year, forgive me, I'm young). Chad raced it until he was killed by a drunk driver a couple years later. Then the truck was campaigned by Curt Leduc and Rob McCachren, and won multiple championships. Eventually the truck's owner Dennis Schlueter put the truck into storage. This year he decided to bring the truck out of retirement so he looked for a driver. He met former enduro truck driver (and my good friend) Troy Menne and they were a perfect match, so Dennis let Troy drive the truck all this year on the condition that Troy returned the truck in the same condition he took it.

And that's your story.

Looks like he took good care of it! I didn't get to see him race. Nice guy. Very cool truck.

Cheyne, I don't think Curt LeDuc drove it if I remember right, I know he built it. He had the Purple Jeep when that truck was racing. I was talking to my dad and he said Chad didn't actually get to race the truck; he was killed the year it was being built. Scott Douglas raced it after he drove the Herzog Dodge; I have a poster of it lying around somewhere I can't remember the year.... Rob Mac raced the truck in 95 or 96 and won the Soda Pro 4 championship. I think the year before that Rob Mac was racing for Venable Racing in the yellow Ortho truck.

It's been a while and some of my memories are fuzzy but I know that Curt did indeed drive the truck.

The truck was built bu Curt while Chad was still running his Class 3 Bronco. At that time the truck ran a 570+ CI engine that was built by a Detroit area builder of drag racing engines. They were built to last for one race and they dyno'ed at a true 1000 hp. Chad was injured in a tragic crash at Crandon in the bronco and Curt drove the truck for the rest of the season. Chad was killed by a drunk driver on Christmas Eve later that year.

The next season (1995?) is when Rob Mac took over the driving duties. Douglass drove it for the next for a season or two and then Chad's sister Nicole drove it. I don't believe that Chad ever got the chance to drive it in competition.
