Can anyone that was at the track confirm the schedule? I know there was a schedule posted about a week ago here on the forum but just want to make sure there were no changes to it.
Thanks

When I was really big into CART everyone used to call him "In the Wall" Paul.

Well your right, he crashed big time. Going up the I want to say 4th turn. I heard him talking to one of the Baldwin guys, he said hit it a hole in the track which put him into the berm, which was a concrete wall. The whole front of the truck was completely destroyed, ripped the uni-ball right out of the lower arm, bent the upper arm, snapped the shaft of the shock, bent it, and bent the coil, and bent the frame, smashed up the front bumper. They were working pretty hard to try and fix it, not too sure if it’s going to be done in time for tomorrow. Gonna be a long night for sure.

I just got a call from somebody at the race that just spoke with Rob Maccachren. Rob said CORR made special rules just for him. CORR told Rob he wasn't allowed to race his single buggy and the truck, so Rob told CORR he would only race the buggy. CORR wanted Rob in the truck so they said he could race both. Then, just this morning CORR told Rob that he had to start last in the buggy regardless of qualifying. CORR also said he had to move to the back on all yellow flags. I guess Rob has been building a car because CORR told him he could race buggies. I like how they change their mind the morning of the race.
This really makes me mad. Rob is my favorite driver and the only reason I was going to CORR tomorrow. With all this BS, I am going to stay home in protest.

I didn't know Alex Barron (former Champ Car and IndyCar driver) was there until the announcer incorrectly said that two IndyCar drivers were competing today. I knew Paul Tracy was there but was surprised when they mentioned Barron's name. Maybe he ran today because he's from the area. I think he has a karting store in Vista (north of San Diego).
Barron finished third in a buggy race (don't remember which class) and Tracy finished fifth (though attrition caught out some others before him).

Pro 4 Just finished with Greaves in first, Rick Huseman in second, and Troy Herbst in third. Cenni was in either second or third for most of the race until the last few laps when he wrecked HARD off the big jump (the one Naughton hit so hard when the track first opened). He's okay, but dang it was a bad wreck. Like a 40 foot nosedive onto the front bumper basically. Ouch! He seems just fine though.
Great race! Renezeder had his Titan out there. He didn't finish - something broke. He looked good up to then, though. Douglas qualified second or third in practice and was really going fast, but for some reason during the race he must have been having issues because he was at the back the whole time. Greaves is awesome.
Pro 2 is coming up...

Pro 2: Renezeder, Johnson, Welchel!
Dan Vandenhuevel was fighting Welchel the whole time trying to get into third and he ALMOST had then went into turn two and rolled it. Darn! He was just going too hot. He ended up on top of Ricky Johnson, but he didn't lose position (shoot). Coyne ended up stuck on the hill in turn one at one point and got a lap down then it looked like Ampudia break-checked him and caused him to spin out then he went off track and lost his driveshaft. He had his fist waving at some of the cars (including Ampudia and Adler, too, who was hauling butt on the last laps). Good times.
Oh yeah, something happened to Todd LeDuc (I didn't see what) and he ended up not finishing so that ought to please some of you haters/Ricky Johnson fans :P

Oh man, what a pro lite race!
Hord took first!
Then Jeff Huseman and then Garrit Wallace (sorry if I spelled that wrong) for his first podium finish.
Ampudia was out front the entire race and then Hord reeled him in and at the the last couple laps Ampudia and Hord were neck and neck and then going up the hill into turn three Ampudia just went off the track. Huseman and Geiser were battling most of the race, too, but something went wrong with Geiser.
Pro 4 Baldwin Cup coming up next!
CORR sure is good racing!

Cenni is lucky to be alive after that wreck, same with the superbuggy driver that barrel rolled off the thing after being hit from behind. That jump is going to kill somebody....just a matter of time. Otherwise great racing, too bad Naughton and Leduc both broke in PL, it would have been great to see them mix it up with Hord. Naughton only had 3 cylinders for the second half of the race and still got 5th. (!)

RJ does drive a Pro-2 for the Baldwin team however,Paul Tracy was also driving a Baldwin prepared Pro-2 to start the weekend but crashed it hard in practice on friday. There was not enough time to repair the truck so instead,He raced Josh Baldwins old truck in the Pro-4 class.

is that Tommy Kendall in the first pic with Paul Tracy ?? looks like him.
and all this talk of 2 indy car racers.. PT and Alex Barron, but was Danny Sullivan who rolled down Monster Mountain the same guy who raced open wheel or a diff guy?? I thought he was gonna throw his helmet at the guy who bumped him off.. so it MUST be the real DS haha.
Nice to see so many drivers out there from other sports giving this a try.
and Vic, nice job being out front in Superbuggy man !! too bad Kevin Davis had to take you out !! held off Alex Barron too, haha.

I was happy to see Pflueger up there in 4th on Saturday!!! Too bad it seemed he got jostled alot and in the wrong places at the wrong times on the track on Sunday......but he still hung in there and rode it out! Also - this is only my 3rd CORR race, but the Herbst trucks seemed be doing better and sticking it out and it paid off as well!

He is listed as Danny Sullivan in the program. Here is where he landed at the bottom of the hill. The truck was sitting there parked and the driver was in the truck. I am not sure of his title but he appeared to be the supervisor of the crew running the heavy equipment that was grooming and watering the track. He was always hurrying around and I never got a chance to get his reaction to this.

haha Thanks Dan.. I'd swear the announcer said Danny Sullivan, and there was talk of him racing a TT in SCORE next year so I assumed it was him.
The announcer also said that the red Dodge belonged to the man who designed and built the track.. and then something about Jim Baldwin. Pretty Funny.

I was standing pretty close to Carl during opening ceremonies on Sunday. Ed Herbst asked him about using 2 trucks. His response was something similar to: He had miles on both of the trucks so he just used his best weapon at the moment. I might be paraphrasing some there so take it for what it cost.

A lot of drivers have 2 trucks. Douglas has switched trucks several times this year when he wrecked on one the first day.
Also, they made Carl start from the back when he switched trucks after qualifying the Chevy and then came out driving the Nissan in the cup race.
JenDiggityDirt
October 2nd, 2007, 07:49
If you switch trucks, you have to go to the back of the line as if you didnt qualify. But I know there wasnt much prep time between pro4 races and some teams were taking about just running the "other" truck for one of the races to insure better results.
The "Sullivan" is of the Fodrill camp, I belive there are a few of them...crissy, danny, etc all racing in single and super buggy.
EdgeHost
October 2nd, 2007, 08:25
Carls trucks consist of one Nissan Pro-2, His older Chevy Pro-4 and his new Nissan Pro-4
Bye the way,The name of the racer you mentioned in the buggy class is Danny Sullivan however, It is not the same one you are thinking of that is the famous Indy car driver that is going to be racing trophy truck with Chad Ragland for T-Force Motorsports. The only two indy card drivers there were Alex Barron and Paul Tracy.

2 trucks is legal for CORR from what I understand. Herbst had another truck brought in from the shop to race on Sunday when they wrecked one on Saturday. They took it through tech and everything. A certain CORR official told me "remember this is a show"

Where do you get your information? There is no rule that says you can only have one truck. Scott Douglas, Baldwin's, Cenni, Carl all have two Pro4's and have raced both trucks on the same weekend. Carl elected to run his new Nissan Pro4 on the NBC show fully knowing he would give up the front row starting position if he didn't run the Chevy. BTW car changes are done every Sunday in NASCAR for various reasons. The penalty is the same, last row start.
