how bad did it get wadded up?

didn't look bad, just missing the clip and smashed a bedside. all the damage looked comestic. first turn after leaving the pits, he tipped it over in down into the wash. took awhile to flip it back with all the traffic, but he got going again after going to his pits for a bit.

Just got off the phone with clyde, everything is all good. Just some cosmetic work to do. Had a belt get knicked by a rock and got kicked off. finished the race trouble free. got 2nd out of 3 trucks. 700 mi on the truck now after this race no prep. quoting clyde (glad he rolled the truck, he likes testing the roll cage to make sure Tim Carrol built it right. Just testing every aspect of the truck.) Jake got to finish the last 3 laps.

Heard it was mostly body damage also, I actually heard he rolled it on two seperate occasions at the race one at around mm 5 first lap and later in the race again, not sure anyone know any more on this? Best of luck to him and all the DA at the 1000.

I know who won Unlimited Sportsman,.......ME!

WAHOO! My first First!

Ironically, one of my competitors, JERRY STEWART, helped me out along with JOHN PHEGLEY and some other guys that I didn't get to meet after the race. My hats off to you guys, you're a CLASS ACT!

Also, thank you Butch Dean and the LVDC for loaning me your fuel pump to use in my pit. Youre team is incredible!

What a brutal race, I feel for the guys that had to do 4 laps. I didn't even recognize parts of the course after the second lap.

We had an oil leak develop on the first lap, got it fixed in the pit. Second lap we got one flat tire. We got it changed but as I was tightening the lug nuts, the socket cracked. I got them as tight as I could and limped into pit B where my Desert Mayhem Boyz tightened the lug nuts and threw another rear spare on the car. Third lap #4 exhaust header broke and that's where the above mentioned help came in. It happened just after I left my pit and I pulled off to check it out. Jerry and John came running over, saw what happened an motioned for me to pull over to their pit. They had it welded up in about 5 minutes. (and not a bad job I might add) About 5 miles later, #1 header broke and I was past the point of no return so I just kept rollin. Talk about NOISEY! We knew at that point that all we had to do was finish so we set a steady pace and got the checkers.

Thanks to ALL the support from Desert Mayhem Pit services, these guys are AWESOME. If you ever need some assistance at a SNORE race, PM me and I'll put you in touch with them. Thanks to all my family and friends who help to make this dream a reality, especially my wife. Thanks to my brother, Justin Stephens (Beetle Barn) who helped me build an incredible motor and for having my back in the main pits. You're the best!

In one way I'm glad you didn't make it. (otherwise i would have only gotten a 2nd place) You are some tough competition!
On the other hand, it would have been nice to have a few more cars in the class.
Sorry to hear about the medical issues and for sure we would love to see you at the next one, just honk, I'll pull over to the right and get out of your way ;)

4TH in class 1 and like 5th or 6th overall. Had some wheel issues and 4 flats, and 20 feet of barbed wire wrapped around a hub. You gotta love people dumping trash! Other than that the car was flawless!
Congrats to Hutchins for 2nd OA in a 10 car!! Gave Bj and Pat a run out there.

Thats right we did pull a single seat air cooled off the line didnt we?!? Hey CJ do you remember who that was that we pulled off the line at Laughlin this year too?? Name starts with an "H" - ummm wasn't that Hardesty? Couldn't have been could it? Air cooled's are way faster than our water cooled since they are so much lighter.. Must be my imagination....

Congrats to Bj and pat for the 1st overall... and Bryan for the win in 1600!

C.J.- Congrats on the big win! Your not trying to diss me are you about beating me in the start? I have the utmost respect for you and know your a much better driver than I'am and have the most bitchen ten car. But I think I at least made you earn it going in to the first turn where you had the inside line. Not bad for a 12 motor. But, you were way fast heading out. Your dust vanished quickly as you checked out!!:D

We are by no means dissing you at all!... we are just referring to the conversation in another thread that turned into a debate over air cooled vs. water cooled.. No disrespect at all. You guys have a nice looking 12 car no doubt! It was a good drag for sure :)
