CR 50 ATV (A) page 43 of the score rule book "top of the rear fender is not considered visible from the side." So if this rule is now going to be enforced does anyone have a good idea how to make a trx450 comply? Or do I just keep doing the same, number on front hood, number on top of both rear fenders and a number plate at rear grab bar?

A number on the hood and number plate on the grab bar with a white back ground and large black numbers has always worked for me

Yeah, number in the front hood, on each side of the rear fenders and one on the rear grab bar should be enough. I've been told they wont let you start without a number on the rear grab bar. And dont forget your tail light, or else you wont be able to start.

For BITD, I have a number on the hood, rear grab bar below the tail light, and the I have two "fins" (plastic number plates) mounted on a six-pack rack. I do not even put numbers on the rear fenders, I figure they are worthless, unless it is a stop check, they can not be seen. Below is a pic of mine.

Doug, I think that is must be what they are looking for. The question is, are they going to inforce this.

I would assume that since they are putting out a statement on numbers, that there will be some sort of enforcment. I would not know, as I do not race SCORE. Do you not want to have your numbers seen? I have ran the same number plates since I started racing in BITD at the beginning of 2006. I want the course workers to see my numbers, so they know that I went through the check point. I do not want to finish a race and find out I was DQed because someone could not read my number, and they have no listing that I went through the check point. I would not care if they are required or not, I would still run them, just for the above reason. Besides, the six-pack rack gives me a place to put the tool bag on the quad.

I have been running the hood, top of rear fenders and grab bar and have been fine so far and have already received my numbers for these locations for the 1000. I do not want to find out in Mexico that it will not be enough. I think to play it safe the fin set up will be best. Thanks for the photo...

Make a couple of little mounts for the hood of your bike and screw the # plate on facing forward. On the back you can you a clamp style clamp to hold the number plates onto the grab bar. The number plate that hangs down off the back may obstruct the tail light and in that case you could run a blinkie light on the back of the grab bar, or on the back of your chest protector.
